The Q50 is nice looking, has a decent interior (unlike the G35/37 which were horrible in that regard), has good power, and is well-priced. It's essentially a budget 335 for the price of a 328.
I see a lot of them on the road, so I'm not sure that it isn't popular. I haven't seen sales statistics, so I'm assuming the IS250/350 handily outsells it. I agree that the Q50 is a nice package. I really like the exterior. IMHO, the interior is a bit dull with the dual-screen, but I would still take it over a BMW 3/4 Series any day.

I quoted him in agreement and support, lol

saw a few on the road, and it looks pretty ugly. The greenhouse looks too tall.

I wouldn't pay 45k for one

340 STARTS at $47K stripped and you will never see one on a dealer's lot for that price.

and vs the 5 series, the Q50 beats it in every category (HP, price, speed, probably handling too). 528 4-cylinder turbo starts at $51K

The Red Sport starts at $47k and fully loaded gets you around $58k. Very comparable to the 340. You'll never see any stripped luxury Red Sport on dealer lots. The IS350 is a much cheaper car. Fully loaded should cost $50k and has been out long enough to garner deals at $44k.

My other point is that the Q50s size is a huge negative for many shopping for a small sports sedan. It's not a compact sedan anymore...more of a midsize.

well said.
Not really and aren't we mincing words here? I meant Datsun/Nissan/Infiniti; they can be lumped together as the same company in the same way that the members on this forum (myself included) all essentially drive a "really nice Toyota".
Anyway, not hating or dissing them, in fact my father had a beautiful 1976 280Z, loved that car as well as my '90 Q45 a few years ago, though when the Q broke down, it tended to get very expensive.
Just sayin' statistically, Toyo/Lex has been higher in reliability, quality fit/finish. These facts also translate into resale value so on the plus side for an Inifinti buyer; they can get a lot of bang for the buck in some deals...

actually the Q50S is slotted nicely BETWEEN the 3 series and 5 series....and with 400hp/350lb-ft tq!!!!

3 series wheelbase is 110.6; overall length 182.5
Q50S wheelbase is 112.3; overall length 188
5 series wheelbase is 117; overall length 193.1

nice picture (only) comparison...vs 340i

I'd love to see the red Sport with all the stupid chrome trim blacked out!!!!!
I like the Q50 interior w/dual screen much better than the popup nav screen.

Blacking out the chrome is not uncommon for the Q50 crowd.

If that is 100% stock, Infiniti is under-rating this car by at least 25hp!!!!

I wonder if you can buy the twin turbo V6 with the conventional steering setup found on the base model cars. I've driven the fully 100% electronic setup and IMO my old Cadillac with 100k miles on it had better steering. It was so artificial feeling that you'd think on a low speed turn you turned the wheel enough, but then you realized that the car was taking way too tight or way too wide of a line and you'd have to correct it midway through the corner. This was taking a normal turn at like 20mph. Honestly it really did feel like a sit down video arcade.

I've heard the base steering system is a much nicer driving setup.

Wow. Great numbers. I'm hoping they improved the steering vs the 2014/15s

yep AND it's a slightly larger car too!!

I've read some reviews about the Red Sport and they have indeed improved the steering....still not excellent but supposedly much better.
