Another pretty dismal review... I might go in detail with my experience in 3,000 miles....
Love this line:

The Infiniti Q50S Hybrid's 0-60 time not only beats the non-hybrid Q50, but it also edges out the Infiniti M35h's 5.1-second sprint, the Porsche Panamera Hybrid's 5.2-second time, and smokes the Lexus GS 450h's 5.2-second run.
So, the Q50 hybrid "edges out" the Panamera but "smokes" the GS 450h, despite them having an identical 5.2 second run to 60. lol.

What is fbw? You mean stw (steer by wire)?

Almost every car nowadays are dbw. (Drive by wire).

Fly by wire is how our govt remotely hijacked the jets on 911.

Not sure if you read the whole paragraph, but the Q50 Hybrid did 0-60 in 4.9 seconds in their testing.

he is referring to "edging" the Panamera while "smoking" GS, while Panamera and GS have same 0-60 :-).

MT has been pretty complementary towards Lexus as of late, but it's just weird to make it out like the Panamera was on the Q50's tail but the GSh was bringing up the rear. Oh well.

Motortrend lists the GS450h at 6.0sec 0-60 on their comparison vs 5.1 for the M35h and 5.2 for the Panamera Hybrid. Check out the stats chart

True. The 5.2s figure for the GS450h could be a typo on their part then.

stupid name? lol. at least you ran out of bad things to say about the rest of the car to talk about the name.

the q50 is a direct competitor to the IS series but IMO has a better interior and engine. that car has a superior engine design that has endless of capabilities. also a better looking engine bay with dual throttle bodies. it would be a 300whp+ with bolt ons and uprev tune.
I don't know, perhaps it was excellent in 1990. But the first time I tried the VQ was my friends 350z and it was an awful engine. So much revving and noise for so little forward thrust. They've improved upon it with the 3.7L in the G37 but it still possess those same traits, but it does go better.

Besides the IS350 3.5L engine makes more torque than the bigger 3.7L VQ in the Q50 and also has a very linear power delivery.

The Toyota V6 have always been extremely refined and silky smooth in comparison.

Lexus, Toyota, nor any other manufacturer I know of has come anywhere close to replicating Nissan's "dying cow" exhaust note...well...because it's awful.
I like the "dying cow," gives the car some life compared to the wimpyness (sp?) of most other vehicles.

I was disappointed about the the Q50 as well. Just had one for a loaner car for two days. Base model with touring, no nav. The new infotainment system reminds me of the Ford Sync...yeah it's a bit cheesy. Interior was quieter suspension softer, more comfy and plush. I get it...all the things the last generation perhaps wasn't. Being a G35/G37 lover, I was looking for them to expand on that platform, not go away from it.

I think it's a more subtle version of the previous G37 and a blend of the G and M. What's more interesting to me is this going to take sales away from the M...or Q70 or whatever it's called now? Or maybe the M/Q70 will be bigger and badder? Perhaps this will give them more room to expand on the IPL line to make it meaner too? The last IPL's were basically just badged, different color interiors and a tiny bit more HP. Perhaps they toned down the Q to allow the name to stretch more into different more distinct platforms...like a M3 is nothing like a 328, etc.

The entire Q thing baffles me. I guess from a marketing and brand recognition it must have resonated well with the brand, go back to it's roots, etc. HOWEVER the G/M/FX had all made nice names for themselves.

FWIW-I didn't like the new Q50. Thought it was just "ok". Every time I walked up to it, I was reminded of the new Accord for some reason or the M37/M56.

Lol at some of the hilarious posts in this thread.

"Q50 technology stomps all over the IS350". Not on planet Earth, no it does not. IS350 having only fake leather? Lol.

Also the VQ has no exhaust "bark". There is a BIG reason why the VQ is nicknamed the "VaaQuum" because the exhaust note is close to that of a vacuum cleaner.

Also the optional ML 15 speaker system on the IS destroys the Q50's overrated Bose system.

Last but not least, yes, the Q50 definitely does look bloated just like the G37 and M, especially in person.
