GX and LX are based on platforms that sell well (world wide), so I dont think they are going anywhere really... Lexus might find it interesting to offer longer wheelbase RX with 3rd row for instance, or call it something else, like JX.
Here in Europe, it is obvious that NX is coming as they are limiting Rav4 options on purpose, not to compete... didnt do that before...
This is true! I think thats a BIG mistake for Infiniti. They have enough identity problems anyways.
On a side note have you considered the Nissan Pathfinder? (If it aesthetics I understand your preference for the Infiniti). My manager just got a fully loaded 2013 Pathfinder $35K OTD everything on it. We work at a Lexus, Acura, Infiniti, BMW, Mini automall so he could have gotten a RX or JX but decided on the Pathfinder which he loves. It seems to do more than the RX including those rear heated seats and programable lift gate.
Yeah we'll definitely look at the Pathfinder too. I don't love the styling, but then I don't love the styling of the JX either, its a little awkward at some angles.

That's outside the US though, doesn't mean they have to offer them here. In fact (transitioning to italics) Similar to how Hyundai axed the Veracruz and offers the Santa Fe in 5 and 7 configurations. I'd like to see the RX in 5 and the name GX in 7 hah. Our GX doesn't have to be the one the world uses. We don't get the Prado, and the 4Runner doesn't do much here either. CUV GX I wants
Right. You have a lot of time to come here to troll Lexus/Toyota while making sweet love to every other brand here. Then you go on a lol tirade in here calling people haters for observing what every person in the universe has observed and stated on every news site I've seen. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/7851236-post21.html
But hey you are the same guy that wanted to know "why do car salesman ask what I do for a living"
GX is more than likely going unibody as the "midsize" 3 row crossover, so I doubt that the new RX will get a 3rd row. It has carved out a nice niche for itself as-is.

Exactly what I want. Sales figures of the GX should go up significantly if they do switch it over to a 7 seat crossover platform. Offering V6 and V6 Hybrid power trains.
Holy crap you don't like a Toyota/Lexus! We are stunned!
Go add some stickers to your Fit and leave us alone please.

Quit it.
Blueprint please exit this thread. Personal callouts like this are not needed when another member simply states their opinion.
What platform do you think the GX would be based on? I assume overseas the Toyota Prado lives on?
I'd hope that they base it on the GS platform but be worried that they'll stretch the RX(camry) and call it a GX. What if we get the Highlander reskinned as the next GX?

it wont be called GX for sure since GX will be staying truck... now they might do what Infiniti did with JX, stretch RX and make it look different
But GX and LX are not going anywhere, even in US, they still sell OK for very expensive Lexii and overall, they are part of platform that sells as half of complete Lexus sales. It is very profitable overall for Toyota and I doubt it is going anywhere.
US Lexus reps, on different occasions, have already strongly hinted that the GX will go unibody in the next generation. One of them even said that the LX probably would as well.
I see what you are saying - LC and LC prado chasses are there, they work, they're wonderful - but as one Lexus rep put it, unibody CUV platforms are lighter, more efficient, and now have the tech to satisfy the off roading needs of most buyers. It's a win-win for Lexus if at least the GX goes unibody.
I'd hope so but the unibody would probably mean FWD based

If I had to guess, the Camry or Avalon. Prado would certainly live on outside the States. This would be a more local thing to cater to our needs and the growing CUV market.

I've heard this on several occasions as well.
And as I mentioned earlier. The Range Rover and Jeep Grand Cherokee have proven to be some of the best off roading vehicles on the market while still maintaining a civilized ride.
Can you imagine a GX and LX that doesn't drive like a truck but like a Lexus all the while fording through river and scaling rocks?! Of course permanent 4WD would have to be pertinent to at least the LX hah

but it wont be GX anymore and it wont be based on Prado.
And yeah, it would be based on stretched RX platform, not GS.
