Fleet sales (while still lower than everything but Accord) and incentives do wonders.

The car is completely half-assed and not even close to what Toyota is capable of doing. I don't give a damn how well it sells.

I have to agree that it's the ugliest Camry ever.
Put 4 wheels and a Camry badge badge on a refrigerator on it's side and it would sell well..

Just like the Camry, the 9th gen Civic sold well despite the initial complaints. They're household names so they'll sell regardless of what you do to them.

I am not defending the Camry, I am correcting that it is "Struggling" when it still is outselling everything else.

FYI, Fleet sales are not evil, business need fleet cars. What are they to do, order horses?

I'll elaborate on your post and say what others on here have not said. That is that the new Accord is currently prefered over the Camry & the Altima with customers. The new Accord is gorgeous inside and out. Finally Honda got it right. It looks much more expensive than the Camry in my opinion (which IMO looks like a toy). I think Nissan also screwed up the design on the Altima for this generation, at least exterior-wise. It has some odd proportions in the rear that messes up the flow of the rest of the design. Despite the Camry's huge fleet sales (I can't tell you how many yellow Camry taxis I see in NYC on a daily basis ), I predict the Accord will outsell both the Altima and Camry by years end.

So a fleet customer is not a customer lol. Now the Accord is "preferred"? Where do people go to make these things up? Must be an internet class

No one said the Camry was the best car in class, no one brought up any other car. FYI, the Nissan Alitma is the new NYC TaxiCab no? The Accord last gen probably was better than a Camry and still didn't outsell it, even with a coupe.

The Altima looks great, looks just like an Infiniiti.

THE FACT IS THE CAMRY NO MATTER HOW BADLY PEOPLE ON THE INTENET BASH IT IS THE #1 SELLER THE PAST 11 YEARS. PREFERRED BY PEOPLE THAT SPEND $$$$$$ NO MATTER A PERSON OR A BUSINESS NOT PEOPLE THAT BASH IT ON THE INTERNET.

Hilarious.

The point you seem to be missing, the point which others have seemed to try to convey to you, is that Honda limits its fleet sales of the Accord, whereas Toyota does not for the Camry. If Honda did not limit its fleet sales of the Accord, it would most likely be outselling the Camry.

Having said that, the Accord may not need to rely on fleet sales to outsell the Camry (the way the Camry needs to rely on its fleet sales to outsell the Accord) this year to take the sales crown away from Toyota. The new Accord is that good.

I am the point. Every month, every week, every day people like yourself try to play down the Camry's sales but bringing up anything, from fleet sales to "it sucks" to "omg tailights" and whatever makes yourself sleep better i

FYI, I prefer the Accord to the Camry and I think its quite superb. It makes Acura redundant.

However it isn't about what I prefer, its about facts and sales and the Camry "Struggling" outsells an Accord.

Bring up fleet sales all you want, how about I take out coupe sales of the Accord? Its a slippery slope.

Giving the Camry or Lexus credit might be harder than giving Obama credit around here

To be fair, I don't have a problem with the Camry's looks, though it could be more upscale, and I roll my eyes whenever Honda & Driver says its boring and drives like an appliance. I also would have no problem buying a Camry and love driving them. I have a 91 Camry and an 07 Camry and have driven the gen 7 and love driving it. There is something about a Camry that makes it wonderful to drive.

But Toyota's lack of effort seems more apparent than ever in the 7th gen. Cheap *** carpet and headliner, fisher price toy hvac controls, and not even using the same materials on the back door panels as the front when every one of its competitors does. In the old days, Toyota strived to be best in class. The new Avalon and GS are two recent examples of what this company can do when they try. The Camry was built for a sales crown or the team didn't get the memo from Akio's office.

In this regard the ES more than competes with the GS and is actually much better than the GS in the interior room available, and once the price tags are taken into consideration the GS stands little chance against the ES except for the relatively few that do care about vehicle dynamics and the more upscale interior appointments.

When they walk into a BMW dealership there's no choice for them but the 5-series. When they walk into a Lexus dealership they're presented with 2 options, and for most the choice is clearly the ES.

In a recent JDM sales thread it was revealed that the GS was actually the sales leader of the year of the Lexus brand in Japan, and it is obvious that it is the case only because the ES isn't offered there to compete with it.
This was exact my situation.

I went to buy 07 GS, but ended up with 07 ES. My wife love her decision.

That "something" is coming soon enough, which is an expanded GS lineup.

And your "long predicted" assumption is wrong. GS sales have NOT "dropped dramatically" since the ES came out. The proof is in the sales, which the GS has remained fairly steady since the ES came out.

Hi DJ. Will you publicly announce you're back on the forums with a new name? Will you continue to be such a provocateur on the forums?

?
What new GS models are coming that u think will help sales?
As i said b4, if no ES the GS would sell over 4,000 units per month!

Again where were you people when the GS was selling well? The GS couldn't sell 4k a month here as they can't produce 4k a month for here.

Where does it say you have to have a lineup like everyone else? Its clear its working for Lexus. The ES has been a success for 2 decades, its the best selling Asian luxury sedan in history.

I think Lexus is just too slow to move to this day and their insistence of 1/2 engine choices and only a sedan for the GS isn't optimum. The market has moved down as plenty of people have no issue owning a 4 cylinder 5 series.

Though if Lexus offered a 4 cylinder GS, the internet would destroy it

Whats important is the GS is the sportiest car in class, something that USED TO MATTER to people on the internet. Somehow that doesn't matter anymore.
