Default New Special Edition 2015 Corvette Stingray Atlantic Convertible and Pacific Coupe

To keep the hype going, GM's plans for the new Corvette Stingray focus on the presentation of new features, models and special editions on a yearly basis. Having confirmed an 8-speed automatic transmission for the base Stingray as well as the new Z06 Coupe and Convertible for the 2015MY, Chevy has now announced two new Design Packages, the Atlantic luxury convertible and the Pacific performance coupe, both due to go on sale later this year.

“We plan to make news with the Corvette Stingray every year, in part by offering special-edition models that offer a unique, personal ownership experience,” said Todd Christensen, Corvette marketing manager. “Our customers have told us they appreciate these limited-edition models, which have become an important part of the Corvette’s legacy.”

The open-top Corvette Stingray Atlantic places an emphasis on style and is available exclusively on Z51-equipped convertibles on 2LT or 3LT trims, adding elements such as a Z06 front splitter, chrome wheels, "Shark Gray" exterior accents and custom luggage.

Chevy says the Pacific Coupe package, which is offered only on Z51-equipped coupes in 2LT and 3LT trims, was "inspired by West Coast drivers who attend weekend track events". It is available in five colors including the brand new for 2015 "Shark Grey", and enhances the Stingray with numerous styling and aero bits like the carbon fiber ground effects package, red brake calipers, satin black wheels and competition sport seats.

Default Supervettes SV7 announced, will go on sale this fall

Will feature a widebody kit & performance upgrades

Supervettes has released the first details about their upcoming SV7.

Set to go on sale this fall, the model will be based on the Corvette Stingray and feature a widebody kit as well as a revised hood. Additional information is limited but Supervettes founder Jason Hunkler says the model will "rival the looks of the new Corvette Z06."

Under the hood, we can expect a variety of performance upgrades that will enable the model to produce "well beyond" 625 bhp (466 kW) and 635 lb-ft (861 Nm) of torque.

Buy it. You know you want to.

You buy too many cars from Lexus people might start to think you're a dealership.

Default Some 40% of New Corvette Stingray Buyers Opt for Manual Gearbox!

Quick question: how many of you are surprised to learn that 40 percent of new Corvette Stingray buyers in the States have opted to fit their car with the 7-speed manual gearbox with the rest taking the more traditional route of the six-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission?

It will be interesting to see if and how these numbers change when Chevy launches the 2015MY Corvette that will offer a newer and much faster operating 8-speed automatic transmission.

The news comes from GM and Chevrolet Spokesman Monte Doran who also told Edmunds that around 55 percent of Corvette buyers go for the $2,800 Z51 Performance package that includes an assortment of goodies like the electronic limited-slip differential, dry-sump oiling system, differential and transmission cooling, and aero parts.

Doran said that GM has delivered 19,915 units of the 2014 Corvette Stingray since it became available in the third quarter of 2013, adding that, with a 27-day supply, the sports car is well under the industry average.

Can't go wrong with a 7MT or 8AT in the Vette it seems. Smoother 8-Speed makes the Vette even more DD

If you have a change to get manual gearbox in a performance car, don't throw away that chance. I were to get the Vette "which I threw away that chance", I would opt for Torch Red with Adrenaline Red Leather or Brownstone with Suede and of course seven speed manly transmission.

I enjoyed every second in the manual...it shifts amazingly well for a car with so much power. Great job Chevy!
