Default Cali smog test

I am curious if my car is ok to pass smog tests in cali. It's a 1992 LS400. It was originally sold in Florida. Does anybody know if its just a 49 state emission car, or is it 50 state? I would really appreciate any input thanks.

New info. The car is not 50 state legal. If anybody knows if its possible or how to register a car like that any help would be great.

Don't know but maybe you can research the DMV web site.

some are 49 state legal for emissions and others are built for California state emissions. I called Lexus and they confirmed that.

The 49 state emissions ban is only for new cars that have less than 7500 mile on them - no problem with used older cars.

http://dmv.ca.gov/pubs/brochures/fast_facts/ffvr29.htm

"If you are a California resident and acquire a new car, truck or motorcycle from another state, it must be certified to meet California smog laws in order to be registered here. ...California considers any vehicle with less than 7,500 miles on the odometer at the time of purchase or trade by a California resident or business to be a new vehicle. "

Enjoy your LS400!

I agree with vinbar. Used vehicles, as long as they pass 49 state federal standards, can be registered in Ca. with no problems.

You can register it but you get a one time gross polluters surcharge.
