Buy a Ferrari, get 7 year maintenance...

I was flicking through a magazine and saw this ad for a local dealer where basically maintenance is covered for 7 years.
I thought it was rather genius.
I have never seen anything like that for a Ferrari before but I can't say I would know much about their offers
What do you think? Good idea?

that's some good money still, i guess owners won't really mind. though i think a lot of the owners they probably don't own their cars for that long
or maybe they hope warranty goes for that long not maintenance

I think this is just yet another advertising trick.
Kind of like when you see an ad on TV for a flashlight or something where the person says "You'll get this absolutely free if you call in the next 10 minutes
Note: Shipping and processing may apply
And "shipping" ends up being $8.95 + $19.95 for "processing," or something like that. You end up paying $30 for a "free" flashlight.
I think the cost for the maintenance is simply absorbed into the MSRP/final sale price of the vehicle. Nothing is truly free in this world.

When you look at how markets change when products like the LFA are introduced you see stuff like this.
Not easy to associate directly but since Fiat has not been able to up their quality standards, what can they do to provide more assurance to their customers. Easy, just de-risk the ownership costs by hiking up the price some to build in free maintenance.
This also helps to make sure the owners get the recommended maintenance done, so cars that are turned in after 2-3 years are CPO grade and the dealers can flip them for top dollar.
It has been easier to see that the super car builders have been upping the ante in terms of specs and personalization. Lexus took themselves out of that play with a car that would not be upgraded over the run.
I continue to say the LFA will be much like an NSX, super reliable and durable. The dealer won't be asking customers, are you able to get your car to start?

When there is no free maintanence, the recommended oil and filter change interval is 3 months-5 months/3500-5000miles. Whereas when the automaker provide free maintanence for such and such years, all of a sudden they get so excessively confident of their engines' reliability and the oil and filter change interval becomes 10000 miles. When you are selling a $200k plus cars, you should provide 15 years/180000miles bumper to bumper warranty, not the frigging maintanence.
If I could get free seven year maintenance on an old school Ferrari Testarossa, I would have bought one instead of my LS430.
Unfortunately the free seven years maintenance is probably for a new Ferrari.
