Volkswagen Does It Again!
Dead Man's Curve, so to speak. The grisly accidents all involved Volkswagens.

I think its the idiots that are behind the wheels that have killed and maimed at the bridge. They need to slow the hell down . Especially in a high powered FWD car. The probably understeer into the guard rail and go right over the edge

There is the grand prize winner.... All accidents happened between 4 and 6 in the am with multiple people in the car coming from Manhattan to Queens which is when clubs close. All of the drivers were relatively young as well I believe.
Just a coincidence that all happen to be VW's, but by no means the extent of the accident.
The curve isn't that bad and anyone driving at a reasonable speed can negotiate without incident.

They recently re-designed this particular off ramp to "increase pedestrian safety" by making the curve drastically sharper. Unless you know it's coming up, you're in the curve before you realize how sharp it is. But yes you're right, it is also incompetent morons behind the wheel lol. The added challenge of a sharper turn just makes them stand out more now I guess.

The hairpin curve was created by traffic "engineers" who decided that the safety of, you guessed it, bicycle riders was more important than that of drivers.
