I just paid $510 here in Las Vegas for a 2006 GS , $450 for an 2008 IS, and $71 for a 99 Accord. That's not including the $20 smog test that I have to do for each car EVERY year.
how would the state system did the calculation? what did they base on? because some are really high and some pretty low. I'm just talking about in the state CA.
I'm in Washington state, my 07 GS350 AWD is $140, 2000 Jeep is about $90 and 1996 Acura Integra is about $75. We have emission test every 2 years, cost is $20.
i think it all boils down to the state inspections and emissions that calculate the cost of registration. in PA we have to have our cars inspected every year (safety and emissions) which is usually around 60-80 bucks depending on what shop you go to and thats if the car passes and nothing wrong. if the car doesnt pass then you have to fix it in order to get your new stickers.
well, pay to play, unfortunately that's how i see it (both living in cali and owning expensive cars). can't say i have much feeling about the reg fee, or more like i just don't look at it
^agreed. Just pay it and move on, there is nothing you can do. Oh and the price does get cheaper as time goes on, but by that time, we've already sold the car and bought a newer one so we;re right back where we started. Smog on a new car is after the first 5 years you own it, then every 2 years there after, unless you sell it. To transfer the title, a smog test is required.
Can't exactly remember, but I think I paid in excess of $400+ for mine last May.
For those who think they are paying too much, I just paid for the fees on all 3 of my cars in the last month or so... $250 for the '06 GS, $775 for the MB and $1250 for the Jag ... now that is what it feels like to get bent over! :-)
