Exactly, registration is small portion of total cost of premium car ownership.

Wow, I thought California was bad but Arizona has us beat! I just paid $400 for my 2008 IS 350, my friend just paid $700 for his 2010 M3.

ok, let's see it. how big a home / lot, and what taxes? i thought cali's taxes were capped hard anyway (prop 13?).

FL prop taxes are very high, but then we don't have state income or other property taxes thankfully.

Fortunately property tax is usually tax deductible, unlike vehicle registration.

No doubt, unless you bought your house in the 70's.

I license my cars in Ohio & it's very reasonable....$56.00 I think. But just across state lines in KY & IN it's hundreds of dollars, depending on value. Like KY people aren't poor enough...at least in CA you guys have decent weather & purdy things to look at...

order of magnitude? someone in here said they were paying over 2k in registration, and i doubt they're paying 20k in property taxes!

my car reg to prop tax is actually 2 orders of magnitude different.

Yes order of magnitude. Property tax of 10x or more vs registration cost is very common, mine included.

errr... you should really come to cali and take a look. having 10k for property tax isn't super crazy here. i am in town home and my property tax is already close to 8k.
