I like Florida, no emissions testing or safety inspections, they were scrapped about 10 and 20 years ago, respectively. I paid about $104 or so at the tag agency to renew my vehicle and have a specialty plate, so it should have been under $100 normally for a year. Only thing that can kill you down here is that some counties are sky high on insurance even if you have a clean record. I thought Mexico City was going to be bad for driving, but nothing in my experience on this planet compares to Miami drivers.

Just got my registration renewal in the mail after the first year of owning a 2016 IS350 Fsport...$391 god damnit! Used to be like $125 for my previous 2010 Honda Civic.

Our 2017 GX460 was $3039.85 Now there is sales taxes involved, and that is probably the biggest chunk. Breaking it all down is a little tough,(They don't want you to figure it out)
So local sale tax was $1563.89 Ownership taxes, $1168.97 and $194.83. The second one was for the 6 weeks we had it prior to registration. All that is yearly, based on current taxable value. Then there is a myriad number of small fee's etc. Like title fee's $7.20 Base Fee (whatever that is) $16.10 Air account,$.50 Clerk fee $ 4.20 emissions $2.50. Now that one is also $25 every time its tested. CStars (whatever that is) $.50 E-470 fee (Repaying for a toll road we already paid for) $10.00 Highway fees, I think based on weight of vehicle. $12.00

I would expect next year to be about $1000.00, maybe slightly less, since its based on value, and weight.
My 99 GMC Sierra 2500 is about $200.00 a year. My dirt bike is a 2002 Suzuki DRZ400, its $58.77. The VStrom is a little more.

Registration renewal in IL is in the $100 range, no biggie

I paid over $12K in sales tax for the NSX

Back in MA, they charge annual excise tax on top of the one time sales tax

$3 on the Ram, $0 on the Lexus and $0 on wife's civic. Disabled veterans in TX pay $3 per year on one vehicle, and Purple Heart recipients pay $0 per year on each additional car. I do pay about $55 a year for each of my 3 trailers.

florida is max $80. didn't know leased vehicles pay more.

How Much Is It to Register A Car In Florida?
To register a car for the first time, a one-time initial fee of $225 fee will be required. Additional Florida vehicle registration fees also include a new plate fee ($28) and registration taxes which vary based on the vehicles weight and use among other things. This registration tax is the same one that is paid at each renewal term and can be as low as $16 or as high as $80 per 12 month period for vehicles up to 6,000 pounds. The registration tax for leased vehicles adds an additional $40 to $250 because of the taxing structure for “for hire” vehicles.
If you are registering a new vehicle in your name but are transferring a plate from another vehicle you own, you will not required to pay the initial fee but rather a transfer fee of $75.25.

What does get me, is people who are willing to use fictitious addresses, or even those of in-laws, to pay less, be it taxes (like in CT/MA/VA/NH), or insurance, both of which imho are fraud.

My buddy sent me a list and what struck me is MS and NE being really low. It is what it is. It's strange to me how much complaining comes out of CA. It's $540 for a red light violation, $xx for not curbing your wheels on a x% grade, $XXX for bringing in fruit from another state. Do you hate your republic, or are you just telling us how much you like it and can afford all of the above?

There's always an opportunity to move to where we find things to be suitable for our needs....

Ours depend on the car, but are typically in the range of $400-600 per year.

I think the way this story goes, is, I never had to claim anything on insurance anyway (I know I've paid for years and gotten little in return, a windshield), so I'll take my chances.....but in the event of an accident, there's a material lie that has to be made, and it's plain and simply fraud. It's a joke for the person in the vid to say it's about hating rich people. I don't hate rich people, I work for them and am able to have my lifestyle as a result, I appreciate rich people!

edit: I could be wrong as well, so enlighten me...I can think of a case where a buddy has a co. car, so his car is registered in NY, but the owner is listed on Olive St., St. Louis, MO. I don't know where NYS thinks the car is garaged, nor the insurance policy that has to cover the liability in NY. And the buddy lives in CT, so no property tax is being collected in CT, yet the car is garaged and driven there.

I hope you also enjoy the new additional gas & registration tax passed and signed by CA Democratic super majority and Gov Brown.
