Appreciate what you have
Bought a 2011 jag xjs in august after a few weeks heard a clunking noise and gasoline odor in the car brought it into jag they said there was a loose tie rod and a small gas leak! After a few more months, the stereo Bluetooth and nave just quit brought it in again they said oh yeah you need the software update took all day get the cars great it's running ok last month stereo quits again restart car it works 2 days ago stereo quits, but we're a block from dealership bring it in.the tech says jag is aware of the problem but can't fix it yet.enough I think started thinking about my favorite cat the sc430 I know it's discontinued but stop by Lexus in margate anyway they had 1hidden in the back it's now in my garage great car loved it except in the snow now in fla so no snow.be careful if you're considering a jag looks great but a real mechanical piece of junk I think

I too want to like Jag more, but they still seem to suffer from quality control problems. Shame, as they are sexy and rare on the road. At least you gave it a try.

Outside of Porsche, no European car can be considered very reliable. Average, maybe, but still their fair share of issues.
BMW and Mercedes have improved greatly in the last few years but are still a far cry from a Toyota or Honda. Europe's biggest presence, VW, is still lacking when it comes to trouble free transportation.
Their cars are great in some areas but I expect to drive 100,000 miles with nothing but oil changes. I did in my car with no sign of wear or problems.
I think my sweeping statement was pretty accurate, sadly.

Sorry to read but not surprising. The long term Jaguars in EVO, CAR, Top Gear that I've read the last 8 years or so have all been problematic. Chris Harris is pissed b/c his XK-R loaner has been in the shop for a month and the XJ long term car had the windshield wiper FLY OFF in the rain as well as other issues left and right. Too many other issues to mention.
