EDIT: "Honda boasts that the new Odyssey minivan it unveiled today is longer, lower and so striking with “lightning bolt” body sculpting that it can be singled out from other vehicles from 100 yards away "

I've been looking at the same two minivans and plan to purchase right when the 2012s come out (there will be no changes on either van since they were both redesigned). I'm looking at a Odyssey Touring vs. Sienna XLE with nav (the Sienna SE does not offer leather, which rules it out). Both my wife and I far prefer the Odyssey for these reasons:
1. Honda drives better... you feel more 'in control.'
2. Honda interior is world's better. Sienna is plain looking and has cheap, hard plastics everywhere. I can't believe this is from the same company that makes my family's IS350 and GS350.
3. We dislike the look of roof rails and the Honda does not include them (they're optional).
4. The Sienna's 2nd row seats slide on exposed tracks. What was Toyota thinking? These will get filled with dirt, crumbs, food, etc. and be impossible to clean.
5. We actually like the look of the Odyssey in person... it is much more car-like in its stance whereas the Sienna is more like a traditional van.
6. Although the XLE with nav does not have it (and the Limited), all other Siennas have a 1970s mast antenna on the hood.
7. More legroom in the Honda's 2nd row (40.9" vs. 37.6") and 3rd row (42.4" vs. 36.3), a big difference in comfort.
8. Odyssey has a hard disc drive for storing music, Sienna only a 4-CD changer.
The only thing I like better in the Sienna is the keyless start. If there was no Odyssey the Sienna would be our #2 choice. But there is an Odyssey, and we prefer it. Just my opinion, I hope it helps.

Without hesitation, I would choose the Odyssey. Much better to driver overall. I'm amazed at how car like it drives. If you want the more engaging vehicle, then the Odyssey is the better choice. The Sienna seems quite boring in comparison.

Since you live in the L.A. region, you probably don't drive much on snowy or slick roads, but if you travel to areas where they do get bad roads, the Sienna offers AWD, and the Odyssey doesn't.......or any other American-market minivan.
AWD Siennas, though, may (?) not be readily in stock in the SoCal area.....the dealership might have to order one. And AWD Siennas are not cheap....especially a special-ordered one, which may not have much or any discount.
