Default BMW 5 series question...

Do you guys think that there will ever be a 555i BMW? Similar to the 335i such as adding 2 rather small turbos only this time adding them to the 550i's V8 engine? That would be sick! A BMW 555i 5.5L TT with a 6MT and a rear LSD! Just like the 335i on the toes of the M3, I think if this car was ever put into production it would be on the toes of the M5.

Your thoughts?

The new 2011 550 fits the bill. It has a twin turbo V8 pumping 407hp. 6 speed manual tranny & LSD to be determined... Here are specs for you..

No need to add an extra 5 to the 550i. If you want more than the 550i offers there is the M5.

Thanks for the info guys!!! Obviously I am not too familiar or up on the latest on BMW .

Hmm...I would have thought that the new '11 TT 550i would have produced A LOT more than 407hp. A TT 5.0L V8...hell, the IS-F produces more than that NA! I think BMW severely detuned this car so it wouldn't apporach M5 territory and ruin its sales.

Either way if it can be tuned with ease like the 335i's then all performance sedans are in trouble. ;( That thing WILL be a beast!

Honestly the 550 without turbos was plenty fast. Are they holding weight down? I think it is fantastic it now has over 400hp but how is MPG?

Amazing the old M5 10 years ago made 400hp, now the regular 550 makes that!

It is 407hp on BMW's pamphlets lol. Dyno truth or dare will reveal what the car is truly putting down to the wheels.

The new 550 GT, which I reviewed, has a turbo V8. It is actually done on the 7-series platform, but is marketed and classed as a 5-series. Some people, though, consider it ugly and awkward-looking. But it has a whopping 450 ft-lbs. of torque...and, even with the 8-speed sport-shift automatic, runs like it.

Here's my review:

I believe the TT V8 is 4.0, not 5.0. And it does make a lot of torque at low RPM's.

looking at the hp number on the 335, the ttv8 in the new 550 makes sense. but it doesn't hide away the potential of the car. just like 335, with a chip, the future 550 can really be a rocket
