Default sDrive, xDrive, Active Hybrid, Efficient Dynamics...?
I was just cruising through one of the BMW forums and thought about something: What is BMW thinking with their naming schemes lately? Not only do they sound stupid in conversation but it also looks like BMW is trying to tell a story on the door panel of vehicles that are labeled as such.

Whatever happened to "330xi" or "325is"? Those were simple and easy to remember. Now I am having to remember if its an i drive, S drive, X drive, Active or inactive, efficient or inefficient, dynamic or status quo, etc.

It just doesn't seem to make much sense. Does any have insight or thoughts on this?

I also think it is beyond ridiculous.

This is a new car for example.. the BMW Z4 sDrive35is

WTF? I guess they really want people to just refer to their cars as a BMW

I really thought that the xdrive, sdrive crap was a joke until I actually saw it on the vehicles. I can't believe that this naming scheme actually made it this far.

yep... not just awd, it is xDrive! Marketing is good... only problem is when you stack a lot of these together

It is pretty ridiculous, if you don't know exactly what you're looking for you'll never even come close to the right car.
