Why the Corvette's days are numbered
Nascar is another topic.
The Vette I'm not worried about, GM is more troubling for sure.
Unlike Saturn and Hummer which were nearly worthless when sold as divisions (Saturn was never sold=$0, Hummer sold for probably $150 million), the Corvette division could probably be sold successfully if necessary.

So please, do tell us, what parts does the Vette share?
The reason Corvette's days are numbered is because socialist countries don't produce products like that, and in Chairman Maobama's new USSA, they will be axed for the greater good.

(only partically kidding here...)

This may not be a fact, its just my opinion that the CTS-V use the Corvette engine

The Corvette's price has never changed even as the engine has been shared. They even tried to make a Caddy SLR based off it and the SLR sold horrid and is canceled. All that is left is existing inventory.
Sharing a 550hp engine with vehicles that sell in very small quantities doesn't spread out costs much if at all. The ZR1 and CTS-V might sell 1,000 or so vehicles a year and that is optimistic.
For all intents and purposes the Corvette is already pretty independent when it comes to manufacturing.
