Default Lincoln MKS

Well I've gone ahead and picked up a black 2010 Lincoln MKS w/Ecoboost engine, AWD and all the gadgets you can imagine (Radar Cruise, Double Sunroof, Sirius/Nav, etc...)

I've replaced my IS-F and Marauder with this. I'm sure some of you are and but I've done it for several reasons.

1) No more car shuffle in the driveway
2) IS-F just wasn't quite as big a step up as I had hoped from my S/C GS.
3) The Marauder was almost 5 years old and I did not look forward to non warranty work.
4) I feel it is important to support an automaker and our manufacturing base in the U.S. (Happens to be built in my city too which is a "bonus").
5) Had to be a Ford because of government money to GM and Chrysler.
6) No more snow tires.

I'm sure many of you are still but I think the MKS with the Ecoboost and other changes for the 2010 MY is quite competitive in this segment. Look for a review, pictures of my actual car in a week or so.

Here's a pic for those that don't know what a 2010 Ecoboost MKS looks like:

Looks great. I like the MKS, especially with the Ecoboost. I'm curious, did you consider a Taurus SHO? Both are very nice. Exterior styling, I do like the Taurus SHO a bit better. Nice pickup.

Good choice. I really like the looks of the new MKS & MKX. The new Taurus SHO looks great too. I saw a couple of them around here & was thinking what was that car.

No from me. Congrats as I think it's a nice looking car (although I do think the new Buick Lacrosse gives it a real run for its money). Keep us updated on how she behaves.

So funny, I was reading my Forbes last night and saw a two page spread on it and they talked about how EcoBoost was better than their own 3.7. I've seen a couple of them in Atlanta with either 20s or 22s and it looks good.

I can't believe you dropped the "F" though!!!

Good pick up!

Congragulations. A nice choice.

No more snow tires.
You said it. There's nothing like AWD.

I'm sure many of you are still
You won't get any flak from me. I don't believe in that stuff. I've always said.....buy the vehicle you like, what best suits your needs, and what you can afford. And don't worry about what others think.

Here's a review that I did one of the early 2009 models, over a year ago. Back then, the only engine was the N/A V6, and Ford had not yet decided (or made public) what the optional engine was going to be.......the 4.6L V8 or the EcoBoost. Well, now we know.

Did they go over the recommended break-in procedure with you at the dealership? Or do you already know it? If not, PM me, and I'll give it to you.

Congrat's on your new ride.

Looking forward to your review and hopefully some of your thoughts/comparisons to your current rides.

Almost a bogus issue. Today's auto industry is truly global. The terms "American", "European", "Korean", and "Japanese" mean little today. One car, for example, can have sourced-parts from several different countries, and be actually built in another.

Maybe.......but then it wouldn't look like a Lincoln. Lincolns are SUPPOSED to have chrome.

I would buy a Ford with no issues and considering where Mr. J lives, I can understand the feeling to want to support them.

GM/Chrysler can suck a fat one, even if I like some GM products. They should give us the cars free, seeing they used our money and all.

CONGRATS! i think you'll enjoy all the tech gadgets Ford/Lincoln offers these days. i *really* look forward to your review.

I've replaced my IS-F and Marauder with this.
that was a mercury marauder?

2) IS-F just wasn't quite as big a step up as I had hoped from my S/C GS.
i'd be interested if you could expand on that. IS-F is certainly fast, but not particularly luxurious.

4) I feel it is important to support an automaker and our manufacturing base in the U.S. (Happens to be built in my city too which is a "bonus").
5) Had to be a Ford because of government money to GM and Chrysler.
i applaud you for supporting Lincoln

I agree, but buying a Ford, nowadays, is not necessarily buying "American".......there are simply too many variables involved. That is the case with just about every major automaker today.

GM/Chrysler can suck a fat one, even if I like some GM products. They should give us the cars free, seeing they used our money and all.
That "fat one" may turn out to be not so fat. GM and Chrysler are both expected to re-pay their loans. Chrysler, under Lee Iacocca, DID repay the last major loan they got, in the early 1980's. Time will tell if they (and GM) can do it again this time.
