No surprise that the Prius is the 500 lb gorilla in the room, easily owning Hybrid sales. 5th place for Honda Insight and 9th for Civic Hybrid. That's not very good for Honda. The flipside to that is 2nd place and 4th place for Ford with the Fusion and Escape hybrid.

Well here's the breakdown for the past year of the mid-sized luxury class along with the Genesis. The Genesis, in July, would have been on sale for a full year now.

RX is the daddy of luxury cute-utes.
3er is the big brother (not yet daddy status) of entry luxury sedans/coupes.
LS is the big brother of fullsize luxury sedans.
No wonder BMW and Lexus are battling for the Luxury sales crown.

The question to me is who the HS250 will appeal to. I'm thinking the HS will have low conquest numbers, with the majority of its sales cannabalizing Prius, Camry Hybrid, IS250, ES, and maybe even some RX450h sales. Of course at 2500 units a month, the sales drop from these other models wouldn't be significant. You'd basically have to ask the consumer, what would you have picked if you didn't pick the HS.

Regardless of what others think, it looks like the Genesis is success. It is outselling its target the GS by 2:1...and pretty much owns some other much more established brands.
I don't think anyone has proclaimed the Genesis a failure. It's clearly a winner for Hyundai. I think what most of us would like to know is the conquest rate of the Genesis and what people would have opted for had they not purchased a Genesis. (i.e. Are people really opting for the Genesis over the GS, or did they really pick the Genesis over the ES?)

I would also like to know what the they traded in or are these owners ones that have moved up from Camry's, Accords etc.

1. Genesis sales now include coupe/sedan
2. Sales goals were 20k for the sedan and 30k for the coupe for 50k a year.
3. The Genesis is NEWER than the GS and much CHEAPER.
