New Lexus GX SUV Due This Fall

If people READ the entire article, Lexus is saying there is a market for those that still want a true 4x4 no matter if they use it or they "know" they "can" use it. The GX will stay a rugged 4x4 with luxury. Lexus themselves calls them LUV "Luxury Utility Vehicles" on their website.
Expect a smaller looking LX. I hope the new GX gets quad lamps like the GS.
I suppose this time around the GX will finally get xenon headlights... just like we saw happen with the LX.
I remember when the 2003 GX first came out with no xenon lights even optional the fanboys were coming out of the woodwork to defend Lexus saying that Lexus was infinite in its wisdom because it was irresponsible to have xenon lights on a vehicle that sat up so high because it would blind other drivers.
It's always funny to see the contortions brand apologists will go through. I want to know if now these same people believe Lexus is being irresponsible? No... that's not possible.

Lexus not slapping HIDs in the GX was a reasonable arguement made by people. I hate those damn HIDs in SUVs blinding the crap out of me, especially behind me.
Its funnier to see people try to attack people who defend their brand on their own forum
As a Porsche enthusiast, I agree. I can't knock the business case for the Cayenne especially in the lucrative American market.
Uhhhhh, I believe the LX 570 does not have HIDs standard or as an option.

And yet I'm completely shocked that Lexus continues to not use xenon headlamps when these days projector bulbs and auto-aiming systems are so dynamically adjustable. I mean some cars out there will even watch for oncoming traffic and automatically lower their lights to keep them from shining on the traffic coming up. This becomes even easier to do with LED lighting which is most definitely possible on a car the price of the LX570 if it's possible on the Prius. Not to mention I can't think of any other SUVs on the road the size/price of the GX that don't offer xenon lights, and I've never had problems with them blinding me. The only cars that blind me are the ones where people add aftermarket HID lighting to housings that weren't designed to aim the light properly.
Regarding the whole 'their brand' thing... I've never understood how people can latch onto a brand and consider it "theirs". I guess it's like sports teams or something... a person decides to identify with one team and from then on defend it tooth and nail. Yes it's a Lexus forum but I don't see that as any indication that it's a place of worship for Lexus vehicles... moreso that it's a place to talk about Lexus vehicles, for better or for worse.
i hope they change the rear tailgate, i don't like it open sideway at all.....
and it's interesting to see what the next generation of the navigation would be, or if they mean the same as that in the new RX

Well if that's true then you pwned me for sure. I'll be even more 'pwned' if the new GX comes out and still doesn't have xenon lights.

I totally agree with you about aftermarket HIDs, especially those with 8k or 12k in the usual Honda or in GA, the big huge lifted 4x4 blinding everything.
Every forum has their brand junkies. People identify with their city, their sports team, their horoscope etc etc. Cars are no different. We do have our lexus junkies
but its not that bad compared to most other forums, where if you even mention the brand is bad, people got nuts. Just look at the civil threads MP started about interior quality or the one where I ask "where hte coupes"? Lexus owners mostly agreed there could be improvements. Clearly Clublexus and CarChat is not a forum where Lexus is worshipped and we think everything else sucks. You won't find a more civil and open minded forum anywhere. Trust me, I've been on most of them.
Will we have our resident fanboys? Yup. However, its better than a forum of fanboys (I won't mention which websites)
Come on you guys, Lexus know what you guys want better than you, you do not need HID in the GX and the LX
This is another case of Lexus trying to pay big brother in safety. They try to set an example, but no one else is following. The thing that seem stupid to me is that the RX has HIDs while the LX and the GX does not, and they are suppose to be higher end models. If Lexus really case about not blinding other drivers, they could have made the head lights lower, at the same level as the RX, in their newly design LX and GX.
