Question Accident Void Warranty?

I re-ended a car in my Lexus RX is my warranty now void? My car still runs.

Is the warranty void? Or should I bring to a non Lexus dealer for repairs?

The warranty may be void on some items....not on others. It depends what was damaged on your car and what you might have a future warranty claim on.

I'd suggest PM'ing flipside909 on this one. He's not only a professional insurance adjuster, but has close ties to the Toyota-Lexus factory organization as well. He's probably more qualified to discuss something like this than I am.

Flip (Ryan?) If you're on the channel, let's hear your thoughts.

Your warranty is not void. The only parts that perhaps could be void is if there is a damaged part theat isn't repaired and later that part is confirmed to have caused a failure. However, if you get everything repaired you should be fine. Also, they can't void any of the unrelated parts that have nothing to do with the accident. Accidents happen every day. Even brand new cars sold as new on the dealer show room may have had a minor accident that has been touched up and repaired that customers don't know about.

Warranty isn't voided solely by the accident. But give Lexus a break. Every warranty covers defects in manufacturing and workmanship. That applies to what Lexus built. Damage caused by accidents or repair from accidents aren't Lexus warranty issues.

I would also assume that if it is repaired using non OEM or Lexus parts that could also void the warranty. True?

Absolutely for the parts they replace. Gray area is what they might do to everything else during replacement. But, if anybody is going to bend over backwards to make you happy even though it wasn't their fault, it will be Toyota/Lexus IMO. If this were GM, I wouldn't be so sure.

I wouldnt tell them anything. Its none of their business. If they find out whats up and say something then worry, but I dont think they would deny you warranty coverage on a part. Thats they lose customers forever. When you screw a customer they will affect the rep. In my business 1 unhappy customer will negate the positive effect of 6 happy customers. Pissed customers talk more **** than happy customers will give praise

I been there my previous Lexus a LS400 got hit while parked. Use of non Lexus parts will VOID your warranty not just part of it but the whole vehicle warranty will be VOID. I brought my car to the dealer and they took care of it all for me. Remember if they fix it they will stand behind it 100% I had a minor problem with the body work and they even gave me a loaner car for the day.
