Default Dealer Detailing

Has anyone ever taken their car in for the detailing that Lexus offers?? How did they do? Is it worth it? I'm thinking about taking mine in since i don't have the time to do it myself. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

I have them done it once on my GS and they overall did a pretty decent job. I did not really have any problem with it at all. The one thing might be that the price is a bit too high IMHO.

i don't see why you want to go that route. a lot of times dealreships they outsource anyway, so you pay extra for nothing. go with local good detailing shops and that's probably worth more of the money

+1 absolutely. The same goes for other dealer offered "services" (i.e. car alarm installs, remote starts, tints, etc...). I know this for a fact because my good friend does stereos, alarms, and tints for a living, and he doesn't work for anyone. Dealers and local people are calling him all the time, he tells me the dealers usually charge double (at minimum) of what you would pay him personally. So naturally, the same would go for your detailing.

I had my car detailed at the dealership. It was included with the purchase. They do it in house and did a very good job both inside and out.

I don't know what they charge, but I'm sure you can save some money and get as good or better job if you shop around for a good detailer.

as long as you know its in-house and not some idiot out-sourced guy. I would much rather trust an independent detailer. Sorry, didnt like my non-Lexus dealership detailing job.

This dealership is definitely in-house and is good. I normally do it myself, except in this case it was included with the purchase.

in house or not, that has nothing to do with the quality of work the detailer does. the work has to do with the knowledge of the detailer and how good he is. he can be someone working independently, working in a dealership, or working as a hobby during the weekends...

+1

it can vary greatly from dealership to dealership

best bet is to take it to someone you always trust and is very knowledgeable

To the OP - I would suggest dropping by and watching the dealers "detailer" do their job. I did and was appalled watchin him whip the high speed buffer around angling the head and burnin paint doing everything opposite what I had seen done by a real professional. I went to look at it close up when it was done and said thanks but no thanks. Now this was a car being reconditioned for resale not sure they would treat a customers car any different but it wasnt worth the risk.

Considering that they wanted over $500 for my brillo pad scratches, I bought my own machine and logged 19 hours into my car so far. Looks better than what they could have done too

MV Lexus did not have anything to say to me when I showed them my finished product. I did it all without wetsanding too, which they said they needed to do. I honestly believe their detailer doesn't know what hes doing but they wont hire me because I showed him up lol

I take my GS to Park Place in Grapvine,TX and the do a really nice job. I have a good service advisor and I make sure he looks over the car before they return it back to me.

This is news for me, you are the vary first person that praised service department at Park Place!!!

Based on experience from my friends, whenever they bring their toys in for serivce; somehow, they managed to scratch or damage their toys!!!
