My g/f and shopped the 335i vs an IS350 last weekend. She bought an IS, however, if it were up to mean I'd of bought the BMW hands down.

So my the BMW was just a better feeling car. The interior is very bland (a reason my g/f did not like it) but it is functional and adequate IMO. The overall responsiveness of the car was amazing though. I've driven E46/36s and can this car feel a lot more solid, aside from the E46 M3 (which I love to death). If comfort if you main objective, the MBZ I would surmise would be much better as they seem to be a softer riding vehicle. The new C-Class is also very good looking and hopefully a little bit better put together than previous generations. If it were my money I'd get the BMW. Also right now I think a lot of dealers are giving really good deals on '07 335s. Without even trying the one dealer we stopped at said $500 over invoice unless she had to get it shipped then we'd have to pay for the shipping. So if you act quick you might be able to find something you like.

I think the overheating issues have been more or less taken care or as I think they are starting to be built with them and there was also something I read about an oil cooler retrofit for cars that did not have it. So do a little research on that if it is concerning you.

Being an IS 350 owner, I'm biased towards the IS. Here is my reasoning, however subjective it may be.

IS350 Pros
-reliability
-ML sound system
-good looks
-speed
-value
-middle ground between performance and ride comfort
-amazing touch screen nav system

Cons
-driver seat needs more lateral support
-small rear seats

335i Sedan pros
-handling and steering feel
-speed

Cons
-iDrive
-reliability
-price (compared to similarly equipped IS350)

C350 pros
-comfortable
-newest design
-doors hold 200lb men lol

cons
-reliability (based on previous C class so it may have improved)
-speed (not as fast as competition)
This sums it up pretty well http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do.../pageId=124079

I would choose the C350. I dunno, it's just a nicer place to be inside. I am a sucker for things like that new COMAND system, with the sharp screen and hard drive, the Panoramic sunroof, and it's just more pleasant designwise inside there too. The C350 isn't as good to drive and it's not nearly as fast either but you have a 911 for that. Plus I think (and this is a personal opinion) the C350 looks a hell of a lot better than the 335i sedan.
