Love Bug Season...
Rasafrakin' Love Bugs...
It seems like this year is worse than all the other 19 years I've lived here...

I took these after my trip to see my GF in Ft. Myers. It's only two hours away, but I probably killed over 1000 of these godforsaken creatures. Anyone else have any Love Bug Horror stories?

It does vary in the state though. I heard Orlando got bombed with them this year, but in Ocala, just 90mi. NW where I am, this is the lightest season I've seen - just a couple of weeks and very few even during that time.
We've gotten them pretty bad here in the Tampa area. They've lasted a lot longer than I'm used to, as well. Seems like we've had them for the better part of 4 weeks now. The thing that really sucks, is that they are so tough to scrub off the car. Bake them on the hood and front bumper in the hot sun for a few days, and they're stuck like superglue.

The male and female attach themselves at the rear of the abdomen and remain that way at all times, even in flight. In fact, after mating, the male dies and is dragged around by the female until she lays her eggs.
We need close-up.

My worst came on a drive from So. Cal to Oregon and back to So. Cal. At least ours was a variety.
About 2 years back I posted a thread with picture of a Porsche 996 that had a bird caught in the bumper air vent. Ewwww....
