2008 Toyota Corolla
There car cars on the market today that, IMO, are even duller than the Corolla. The Chevy Aveo and entry-level versions of the Dodge Stratus, Mitsubishi Lancer, Suzuki Aerio, come to mind. So does the Kia Amanti with its excessive body roll (though it is a nice car inside), and the Toyota Prius with its equally roly-poly handling, which IMO is worse than the Corolla's. The Prius, though, has the "emotions" of knowing that you are saving both gas and emissions, if you care about those matters.
Ok, see the whole ricer comment is rather bland coming from people that are driving Japanese cars, never forget chief, your Lexus is first a Toyota. I don't think generalizing Civic Si owners as ricers is a practical comment. I had a Camry, went to an Accord because the Camry was plain and boring, and felt better in a Accord, so I guess that makes me a SUPER RICER!

I honestly can never figure out how people can say the Civic or Accord is so much sportier than a Corolla or Camry b/c they all put me to sleep. I see them as dependable, great family cars.
The problem is proven in this thread, some people think Civics and Accords are Ferraris and drive/mod as such.

Si-197hp, 139lbs torque, 8k redline. Honestly the successor to the RSX, upgraded sport version of the Civic.
Corolla S-126hp, 122lbs torque, an APPEARANCE package
Why in the flaming HELL is anybody comparing a Civic Si to any Corolla???
I guess we should compare the IS-F to the TL Type-S then....
You're probably right, but the limited-production, manual-transmission, Corolla XRS, with the 180 HP VTEC engine from the Celica GT-S and the uplevel Matrix/Vibe GT, would be close.

Sorry but you need a slight dose of reality. Yes there are tastefully done Hondas but there are so many bad ones or ricers that the brand as a whole has that image, if you like it or not.

The reason the Civic Si was mentioned is because I compared it briefly to the Corolla S. The car no matter sales figures, does not change the fact that is it boring and not attractive. We can call argue this until blue in the face.
That is an incorrect comparison, iobidder (see my post above). The Si cannot be compared directly to the Corolla S. It compares much closer to the Corolla XRS, with the 180 HP Toyota VTEC engine. The more mundane Corolla S uses the same engine as all other non-XRS Corollas.

The BMW mentality is amongst a lot of Lexus owners, including yourself. I don't need a dose of reality, I see them all the time, Honda's with fart cans, and underbody neons...etc. but like any other car, there are some tastefully done up ones too.

The Civic Si should NOT be mentioned b/c we are comparing a Corolla which has no upgraded performance model. You are comparing an ugraded performance model, to a base model car.
I am not even saying a stock Civic is not "sportier" than a Corolla, the Corolla is as UNSPORTY as it gets. Almost ANY car is sportier.
The Corolla succeed at basic "vanilla" transportation. It is so good, a 6 year old design is outselling the brand new Civic design.
My other point is, to say a Civic is sportier than a Corolla is NOTHING to brag about and like saying "the Alien is better looking than the Predator". In the grand scheme of things, both put me and most people to sleep.
Of course, throw some stickers and LEDs on there, and you have a 10 second car.
