Wether you guys like it or not flat black (rat rod style) and seude paint (like the F-Bomb camaro and the 2 door converted S550 at SEMA) is coming back into style hard. For modern cars it really depends on the application but sometimes it can look very good, muscle cars are starting to take to the seude paint for the aircraft look. I actually just painted my 2 door cherokee flat OD green (since we use it mostly for paintball road trips) and it looks sweet (i'll take & post pics later) Honestly I really like it on the right car and I think that combining normal paint and flat/seude paint is going to start popping up moore often.

I had a flat black hood (OEM) on an Opel Rallye, and it was a nightmare to maintain. You had to keep it washed, but dare not polish or wax it as you did the surrounding surfaces. Handprints show badly and are difficult to remove (note the Ferrari). If you got a bird splat or tree sap on it you had to carefully wash it off, feathering the edges of your work area into the surrounding paint to avoid a shiny spot. I can imagine an entire car painted this way.

Of course, if you have the budget for one of these exotics, you needn't bother washing, just have the guys in your shop repaint it every week or two . . .

Man no kidding. I have a couple customers with classics that have matte black stripes ('cuda's, chargers, camaro's, etc...) and we have to tape them off every time we polish or wax, it's a total pain. Even washing sucks since once you dry you have to totally avoid those spots or you'll just get fingerprints all over them. :/

Seems a bit silly though, considering you can pick up a Turbo Hayabusa any day of the week on ebay for about $20k. Same if not more HP, and at that level of power ALL you are caring about is power.

Absolutely love it.

I love the SLR, Porsche, Ferrari, and the CLS.

It's very stealth and practical looking. It's almost very... modest.
