I agree that touch screen is way better than an i-drive like system. I disagree that the G35 looks like the IS

Yeah right. I'm pretty sure some schmoes at a local Lexus know what's going on with the future Lexus electronics in Japan.

in addition... i really do think that some head haunchos at lexus have fake names on forums like this, and post ideas and what not, to see reactions of people who are interested in the car. like us.

although im not acusing brravvo of this... im sure it happens a lot.

i mean, wouldn't you do the same, if you want your product to sell really well....

With a car that has seemed to get almost everything right so far, to switch to something that most people in the world think is crap(i-drive type of system) would be totally out of character for Lexus/Toyota.

The Toyota Avalon uses a joystick and I believe the same
NAV disk as our IS. I know for a fact that the Camry disk
is interchangable with ours.

nope. lexus has plenty of money and experts to do it the right way. no need to resort to posting ideas on an internet forum under a fake name to see how it goes over.

My g/f's parents have a Merc and her sister has an Infiniti and both use crappy buttons for the navi... it makes ZERO sense to me! Whenever I'm in either car I start pushing the screen just to **** with them and then say...

"Oh yeah... your car is for cavemen... it's so ****ing primitive I'm amazed it has power windows!"

I would be PISSED if Lexus dropped the touchscreen, I love it.

At least their screens don't get covered with fingerprints. (Always looking for the silver lining... )

I think it would be a big mistake to ditch the touchscreen.

There are a number of improvements I'd make in Lexus' nav, e.g., displaying more characters of song artists and titles - it seems like much of the user interface was designed to work with a lower resolution display.

I would like it if the nav were more like the garmin muvi 360. That thing is sweet.

3D view option
Change Voice
Change languages and accents
Voiced street names
Display pictures
Updates free of charge
My 07 is missing a neighborhood thats been there for years. This overpass has been here for 2 years... not on the lexus map.

for $2000 more than a Garmin Muvi 360, I dont see what advantages the Lexus Nav gives me, other than the fact that its integrated into the dash and the back up camera.

Of course, I have only had the car for 10 days and havent learned the Nav very well.

I have a BMW with iDrive and love it.

The nav is not as good as the Acura nav system (the best), but all functions are activated when you are driving, the iPOD and sat radio integration are amazing; the height of the screen coupled with the haptic controller make it very safe to use while driving. No glare, no fingerprints.

MB copied BMW and I suspect Lexus will too.

BMW is also using the MOST buss, a fiber optic network in the car. The japs are still developing theirs.

I like the absence of all the frickin buttons. Plus when BMW has an enhancement, a simple software update gives all the older cars the same features. You can not do that with hard coded buttons.

German nav systems suck terribly for address entry. They require you to enter the city and state before the street. At least Lexus is smart enough to figure out (or narrow down) the city and state based on the street address. Plus from what I've seen on MB, the nav doesn't even know where along the street a house number is, or on which side of the street. Just that "you've arrived" on the right street.

You can't have it all. BMWs drive awesome and the nav is lacking.

Lexus' have a nice nav, but they are boring.

Pick your poison. I have one of each.
