coolant reservoir....
hey guys I have a quick question.
I back out to my car, after letting it warm up for a little bit (was like 15 degrees this morning) I see a nice little puddle of coolant under the car.
So I drove to work, I figured I will keep a close eye on the temp and coolant level sensor. I took a good luck at it, and it seems to be leeking coolant from both bottom corners????? anyway, probably time for a new radiator.
I have always thought of the coolant reservoir to be as a sort of expansion tank where extra coolant goes. But today when I checked for coolant in the radiator, it was full, however the coolant reservoir was lower than it was a few days ago.
SO my question is: Does the coolant reservoir also serve as a holding tank for extra coolant, THAT the radiator will pull in in case it needs more coolant???? OR is the leak somehow coming from the coolant reservoir??? thanks guys
MAIN reason I ask, because I want to know if I will be alright just watching the coolant level on the coolant reservoir and if it does get low, just add more into it. Because if I do indeed need a radiator, I will probably pruchase it online(cheaper), which means maybe a week(maybe even more) with a coolant leak.
