Default my stupid mistake!

a few weeks ago, I looked at the coolant reservoir and it was a tad bit low. I decided to add some coolant. Now I'm sure you've seen the two caps on the coolant reservoir. One is to add coolant, and the other, I don't know. I must have been in a hurry or something, I tried to open the other cap to pour the coolant and as I pulled it upward, I saw a dried gluey material underneath. I think it was some kind of a glue to prevent coolant from spurting out and I sort of loosened it Anyways, tonight, I put the hood up, and well, there was a bit of coolant spilled here and there (I had overfilled the coolant at that time). I think it's the glue, how can I get it fixed and reglue it? Would my mechanic do it?

azari,

I chased my reservoir level up and down for a couple of weeks. I found it is best to meaure it in the morning after it has sat all night. The coolant reservoir leak is is a common problem. I have it too. I just wipe off that part of the reservoir when I wash my car. Read this thread here for a temporary fix https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...leak+reservoir

I have heard a new coolant reservoir is about $150. Apparently they don't sell the sensor cap by itself.

Hope that helps.

mine has no cracks or anything. What ticks me off is that I did it myself with my own hand I pulled it up and the glue sort of opened. It never leaked before that. When I take the car for tune up and transmission fluid change, I'll just tell him to take a look at it. He should be able to just put something in there (glue) to hold the sensor cap tightly in place.
