Bimmers are great. It's their owners who are ___________
I hate so say it, as I absolutely know that there are way more decent BMW owners that those who are, let's say, less than courteous. But, in my area, it seems more often than any other brand, if there is someone being a jerk in traffic (not letting people merge, driving aggressive with no signals while on the phone, etc., etc.) it's the bimmer owner. Please note, this is simply my personal observation and I try not to take that observation and apply it to all bmw owners on the road.

Maybe I just see the small percentage of bad apples more regularly than the others, or maybe it's something else. I don't know. There are many bmw's that think are great cars, but my observations of the drivers has put me off the brand.

Who knows, someday I may buy a bmw. If so, there's a good chance it will be debadged.

At least the bangle styling has made it easier to stay with other brands.

Most drivers in general are discourteous.

I agree. Man, do I ever agree. And those discourteous drivers are discourteous no matter which car they're driving.

I suppose that's true. Maybe it's the sportier nature of some of the bimmer's that bring it out more. Perhaps, a need to show their car really is a driver's car, so they are beyond aggressive. They'd probably do the same thing in any other "sporty" car they owned.

BMW has one up on Lexus in that it can compete directly with Porshe with the M series.

I suppose I better be more mindful of my driving habits eh..

Different strokes for different folks. Its all in the sort of experience your looking to get out of a car and what your willing to compromise for it since theres no perfect automobile, if there was life would be boring seeing that everyone would have the same car, and what we talk about then...

Honestly, I don't think it is a "need". The fact is, especially on the 3-series, you feel like you are one with the car -things you would never consider doing in a Lexus (or MB, etc.) you just end up doing in the BMW and it feels natural. I'm positive I was one of those types of drivers with my 3-series and yet I'm a very courteous careful driver - but damn, that car made me do things.

PS Maybe this is what we talk about when we say BMWs have soul - it is the Devil in them

PPS - on my own personal opinion, I see G35 coupe drivers and to some extent G35 sedan drivers as the worst offenders here in the Midwest.

I got to agree with you there about some of the G35 drivers. One guy in a
G35 coupe with Skyline badges cut me off in the SC in an attempt to lure me in, let's just say he didn't get another chance after that

It's the same arguement about manuals. Everybody was b itching and complaining about the lack of a manual, and when the IS300 was given one, nobody bought it.
i had the last gen IS as a loaner and it was horrible. i wouldn't even put it in the category of sports sedan, let alone compare it to a bmw. it was a loaner so u know i pushed it.

and i am not really comparing the 3 series to the gs. i am choosing between the 2. i am comparing the current gs to the last gen which i owned and loved. and like i said if u take out the gadgets it is a step backwards not forward. u have to understand i don't have kids and i am not married so i don't have to consider size when buying a car. give me a lexus with passion and i will buy it as i really liked the brand at one time. now it seems to me like i only like german cars. when i was at the lexus event and drove the s550, it felt more gratifying than any lexus i drove that day, and i hate mercedes. the only car that came close was the sc430 and it dates back to the same era of the gs i had. the new ones just don't do it 4 me

On paper but I've never read any M car beat or even come close to beating a Porsche...Clearly the M cars have practicality going for it.
