If you see a Lexus dealership on the way to pick up your dad, maybe you can pick up a new clutch set for the defective one in my IS250? I also need a new set of tires for the ES330, because they were all defective from the factory with a nasty case of radial pull. There are a few other items I need replaced, but you probably won't have enough room in your trunk. GO LEXUS!!!!!!

I wanted a two door Premium "sports/luxury" coupe..Lexus had the coupe, but sporty isn't part of the picture. BMW got the sale..

I wanted a SUV/SAV that handled worth a darn and could tow reasonably well. The FX handled well, couldn't tow. The GX handles like a refrigerator, the RX would be ossed all over the road and is too small for me... BMW X5 wins...

It is all about what matters to YOU... I don't care what anyone thinks, I'm the one writing the check.

I was thinking about this earlier.. BMW does offer the customer options... tons of them, maybe too many.

Some in the way you order or take delivery of your car, others in allowing you to customize the little things. Stuff with Lexus that would require a trip to the dealer (C-best) I can do with my E63... does it matter? To me it does.. Also, BMW does provide software (CIP) upgrades which often adds new functionality. To me.. that matters and I appreciate the option.

There is a Lexus in the garage as well and I like what Lexus does, but it's all about personal preferences.

My treatment has been equal at both BMW and Lexus. Though... my local Lexus dealer lost a bit of their "culture" over the last few years. It may just have been a personal thing where they turned over staff and the familiar faces I worked with in sales & service were gone.

Great post. BMW still is THE sports luxury brand and clearly they offer what people want. Profits are up, they win most all reviews, image and prestige are stellar.

The BMW+Lexus= heaven movement must begin....

We must all cease and stop the ridiculous flaming and appreciate each respective brand.

bmw isn't just great at handling. they give u a lot of feedback. i feel at one with the car like it's an extension of me. lexus cars r great, but for me the point was to get better as time goes on. this new gs if u take away the gadgets isn't better then the previous generation, however the new ls is better then the last, and the IS is better than the altezza.

100% agree. I still don't get how owners on the BMW forum, and even owners here have such animosity toward the owners of the other brands. So many people own both or multiple luxury brands. I guess in their eyes when you drive their brand vehicle you are okay. Tomorrow when you drive the other brand you are an idiot and don't get it?
I guess that is why I'm not really brand loyal. I heavily lean toward certain brands, but I'd jump ship to the brand that provides what I want at that particular time in my life

u do know that if either company relied soley on their flagship that they would be out of business within a year. for bmw the 3 series is what pays the bills and i believe it is the rx that pays the bills for lexus. but we all know in order to sell a 3 u have to have a 7. for the record bmw is shattering all of their records with the new 3, and will have a career year for 2006.

Excellent post.

I will add that on other BMW forums (e60.net and bimmerfest.com) I don't see much Lexus bashing. Most of the people at those forums (especially e60.net) are incredibly mature and they really respect Lexus. There are always the bad eggs that make stupid posts because they hate the brand so much - we even have those eggs here on this board. Overall I love this board because of the great discussions. This however is an old one that has been hashed out over and over again and can only lead to something bad. Can we now close it?

I joined Bimmerfest last month once I got my X3..Lexus bashing does not seem to exist imo. Same for CL Both brands as stated over the years, have their own appeal and trademarks. BMW as the "Ultimate Driving machine, and Lexus as "Relentless Pursuit of Perfection". BMW is all about sport and performance and communication to the driver. BMW vehicles are more than a collection of parts put together. These cars are engineered to be driven, and have an athletic flair to them. BMW is actually improving reliability with their newer products. Most of their owners are younger, metro sexuals who want that curb appeal, and reputation & history of sporting performance. BMW owners are more about the now than later. Lexus is all about wanting to get to from point A to point B in comfort and luxury without much worries. Lexus cars are more about state of the art technology, more so than BMW. Most of their owners are older afluent folks who are not concerned about carving up corners. We are the exception since we modified our Lexus cars with a plethora of mods to fill that handeling void. Most Lexus owners are concerned about the later more than the now, and tend to keep their cars longer than BMW owners. Reliability is thus more of a concern to Lexus owners more so than BMW owners. Both great cars imo..I own both.....just my 2 cents. The debate will continue

Lexus - left brain.
BMW - right brain.
