Merged Sirius Satellite Radio Threads
Okay since the other Sirius thread was getting kind of long, here is a new one.
I understand that Sirius is available on 06 and up IS's right? I have an IS250 with nav (non-ML) and would really like to have sirius in my car but am unsure of how to get it. I am new to sat. radio, what exactly do I need to purchase to get this. If anyone in the Socal area would be willing to help my locate the equipment to buy and HELP me install it I would be very greatfull, I'll buy the beer. We could even have a number of us meet up and all install it the same day....
Also as a general question, how much a month is sirius and can I pay monthly or am I required to pay yearly.

should have just added this to the other thread. There is information in that thread with regards to availability.
The short of it is that it hasn't reached general availability.
With regards to payment... ever thought of www.sirius.com ??

Sirius is $12.95/month with discounts for pre-paying in advance. For example if you pre-pay for 12 months of service you get an additional month for free. There are additional discounts for longer term.
You can also pay a $499 lifetime fee. This is for the lifetime of that radio. However, this allows you to "change" radios three times for a fee of $75 per transfer. This is the plan I am doing. My lease in this car is 4 years...and then I will transfer it to my next car etc.
In terms of purchasing the kit...you can go directly to a dealer. They will charge you for the kit and installation.
You can also purchase the kit from lexus-parts.com. I would recommend getting professional installation. But honestly, I don't know how easy or difficult it will be to install.
Hope this info helped.

Check lexus-parts.com
The kit costs about $339 (includes receiver + harness), but you need to buy the antenna separately, which is about $30. You can then install it yourself (which I believe is a fairly straight forward job and costs $0), or have your dealer install it and charge you an arm and a leg in the process.
Monthly fee is around 13 bucks.
That's about it in a nutshell.

As proof that I did do a lot of searching, I can tell you yes for sure it will work on non-nav units...
Thanks for clearing that up guys, any other suggestions/comments/input is still very welcome as the more the better. If I do purchase the unit I will let everyone know how it goes.
However, I have pm'd the lexus-parts person on here as well as e-mailed them and haven't gotten a response yet, not to good of an impretion when I about to fork over $300 some odd dollars to them.....I would be happy if they could chime in on this thread.

No thank you. I will continue to post and not keep my comments to myself.
You are the reason why the same questions keep getting asked over and over again. You are the reason why forums are littered with dozens of posts about the same thing. You are the reason why the term "repost" was invented. Give me a break.
There was already a very informative thread about Sirius radio, but somewhere in your infinite wisdom you decided that you needed to create another thread so that everyone that contributed in the other one will have to do it all over again here, because there is something "special" about you that you should have your own thread on the subject.
There is no reason to split information about Sirius between 2 threads.
If you are going to do something as silly as start another thread about a subject that has been discussed AT LENGTH, then at least have the common sense to reference the other thread with a LINK and get the other thread LOCKED so that the information doesn't get dispersed between 2 locations.
Does that make any sense to you?

I had Sirius added to my Lincoln LS. The navigation head unit in my car was "satellite ready", but still needed a separately purchased tuner and antenna to make it work. The cost for this was about $400 including installation by the dealer. Gotta say, its really slick! I can control the tuner from the steering wheel controls (volume, channel, etc.) and sounds great with the THX system in the car.
As far as Sirius service is concerned, I paid for a year and Lincoln threw in one month free. Since I paid in advance, I also got one month free from Sirius. So in total, I got 13 months for the price of 11, which works out to about $9 per month.
I would like to surprise my wife and get Sirius installed on her IS250 (no navigation), and will probably do so once the kit is available.

I am merging this thread with the larger Sirius thread so we do not have two running concurrently.
