Me too. I've seen so many cross generation Corvettes that turned out HORRIBLE. You can actually tell that this guy took the time to make it look right.
It's certainly not something I would do - or even think of doing for that matter - but I agree that this gentleman (or woman) probably met or exceeded his vision for the car. It's well-executed.
Not bad considering that the original 1953-54 models had a straight-six under the hood and...get this....a two speed automatic....which could be outrun by the average snail.
The original car, needless to say, was built more more for its looks than for any kind of sports-car performance. That was to come later, toward the end of the fifties...especially with the new competition from the 1955-57 V8 two-seat Thunderbird.
Honestly.. i hate it, I think it looks horrid... sorry.
I mean the workmanship does look great, but I just dont think the lines flow at all, the razor edgeness of the windshield, and soft top, does not flow well with the curvyness of the front end and tail end. Also the overall body looks to long for the shape imo. That classic curvy shape looks better on a shorter vehicle like the original 53
I have seen that car in person on Woodward Ave here in MI many years ago. I think it’s called the "Blue Flame" and has been written about a few times in major publications.
