I'm thinking........ no. It doesn't matter what Lexus does the "unbiased crowd" will always pick the BMW. Just read any magazine that compares the two. We all know the IS350 is better in most every way than the 330i but we lose due to...... rear seat room? electric steering? auto tranny? come on...... We win in Power, speed, reliability, fit and finish, cost, braking and I'm not so sure that handling is all that huge a gap either. Seems to me there will always be a bias.
Hurry up IS500....
just my thoughts on yet another Lexus vs BMW thread.

Maybe it's the other way around...... to get the writers to choose the BMW over anything else. One of the fringe benefits of writing for a magazine.
turbo has trouble breathing after 4k rpm, why is the torque and hp curves not intersecting at 5200 rpm like most dynos do. Im sure its quick but its going to cost 6k-7k more than what I can get in an IS, too much for me

On a less positive note, this is the first article I've seen that mentions any appreciable turbo lag.

It put down a whole lot more: 275 hp and 300 lb-ft. A few quick taps on our trusty calculator shows that this engine is likely putting out closer to 350 hp and 360 lb-ft of torque.

What kind of turbo are you talking about? An IS is not that much cheaper than a 3-series, plus BMW has free scheduled-maintenance, which is, of course, coming from the extra price difference.
did you even look at the dyno, torque starts falling after 4k, when power is dropping that early something isnt breathing well at higher rpms. An IS starts around 36.5, 335 coupe around 41.5-42, and they still nickel and dime you 1500 for leather and 500 for paint

And as I remember, a lot of cars' torque plateau and then drop as rpm climb. I personally like to get the torque from the rpm range I usually drive at, so those high-revving low (or NO) torque machine like the S2000 is not my cup of tea. Oh ya, it gets its max torque at like what, over 7000 rpm? Sure it's breathing "well".
335 coupe starts at 40,600, while the 335i sedan starts at 38,700. I will take one with Sports package and winter package please. If I can have the premium package without the leather, I may check on that option box, too.
