I am sorry guys, I have jumped ship. This board has been great info and I enjoyed the shows I attended in the past 2 years. I will visit and let me know where the next South Florida is and I will come. I have to say,,,,this M5 is bad azz and is a total different ride. I was saving my money for years, ok 1 year. I am stil selling my 18 wheels that is in the "wheel" forum if anyone is interested. oh,,and yea,,it is FAST!. 500+ HP is unreal in this car with the handling it has.
Tell me what you all think. It was this or the E55. Got tired of wating for Lexus to get the HP up. I hope the new gs, gets a 400 hp motor.

Awesome machine! You're one lucky bastard!! As much as I appreciate the performance ability of the M5, I think if it were me I'd just go w/ the 550i Sport. It's less high strung and probably better as a daily driver (which if I spent this much money on a vehicle is what I would be using it as). Plus, it has 85-90% of the performance/handling of the M5 at approximately 70% of the cost.
Either way, enjoy your new ride. The styling of the new 5 Series has really grown on me. If you have the time please post some interior pics. Did you get the optional wood trim or stick w/ the aluminum? The seats look mighty comfortable judging from the nicely padded headrests.
It is as good as a daily driver as the 550i. The extra almost 200 hp makes it easy to move around in traffice. SMG has improved UNBELIEVEABLY, I love it! Bout time...Dyno says 513 hp at the wheels..so figure 540 ish, BMW under rated it a bit and still got caught coming in the states, Gas Guzzlertax was 3700 bucks. It was not a cheap car, don't let anyone tell you diff, but 1 that I will keep for 3 years or so.
I will keep you posted.

for some reason, they blocked my photos after 2 hours..I uploaded them to the server instead of getting them off of the m5board..This should not mess up any feathers.

this car is amazing. i dont think anyone can blame you for jumping ship. the performance highlights of that vehicle are so amazing none in the lexus lineup can imagine comparing to. congratulations and hopefully after the 3 years are up lexus will bring you back with an amazing gs or ls sport version. thanks for the pics

I honestly believe that Lexus is coming to see the light in getting a performance sedan. Who would have ever thought they would have put a 300 plus HP motor in the IS. After seeing the spy photos befor the 2005 's came out, look at the TACH in the cluster. Red line was at 6,600 rpm. THAT WAS a different motor than is in the GS430. So something happened and they put the 300 hp motor in it and introduced the new body.
8 mos later....you have an IS that is 14,000 lower in price, smoking the GS's doors. I would have been VERY upset if I would have got the new GS. In 2008, I think they will have a GS model to compete with the new M3 four door coming out next year. 400 hp will do it.
I will come back to Lexus when that happens. You can't beat the ride of a Lexus, and the transmission is so smooth. I miss that. On the other hand, barking the tires in 2nd and 3rd is fun too. There are a lot of down falls to the M5, price being 1. LEXUS needs to study and in gear and compete with a super sports sedan. Then don't/won't go after the M5 at 540hp, but they can go after the 400 M3 four door or it might be called the M4. Lets keep our fingers crossed. Anyone know of Lexus gearing up for that program?
2007, VW is coming out with a 535-horsepower Passat R-GT. With a top speed of 190 mph, Even Volkswagon is getting in the super sedan game! Come on Lexus, give us something!
Congrats on the great purchase. That is one truely beautiful car. Do you have any plans for wheels or anything? I think some DPE or iForged would look great on that car.

I highly doubt that vehicle will ever see the light of day. If it does you can be the first to say I told you so. VW is notorious for building test vehicles that never make it to production.
Very nice ride Sean. I prefer bmw balance and steering feel over the lexus. That is a great car. I have spent a lot of time in my friends 2003 M5 which is a nice competitor to the 2nd gen modded GS4. This car is in another league and if I could afford it would easily jump ship as well.
Great car and congrads.
BTW, what do you do for a living? I think I need to change fields and do whatever Sean is doing
