Hybrid is fine with me, and im sure it would have tons of power and a lot of passing power because of the electric motors.

Middle seat is there alright. Just look at the center headrest in the picture below. The rear seat shot you saw just happens to have the central armrest laid down and the two rear seats reclined that's all.

The new S500 does have the new 7G auto and accelerates much faster than the old 5-speed auto it replaces. Don't discount that.

The S500 already had the 7 speed auto transmission since the 2003 model year , plus we don't know what else the new LS will have up it's sleeve besides offering as high hp as possible. Not discounting anything, but I don't think they have to to try to match up with the new S in hp for it to be competitive. There's no guarantee that the new S will perform significantly better than the new but less powerful BMW 750 either.

Looks like what a Hyundai would look like. If it had no badges and the prominent MB grill, my first guess would be that it was a redesigned Toyota Crown Royal. Interior layout, like what some have said, looks untraditional. I'd take this as a Japanese car inside and out.

In reading the Benz board, many are up in arms. They are pissed it has basically I-drive, the shifter is on the column and the wheel arches are not being seen favorably.

The funniest comment was "Damn Benz released pics of the new 7 series by accident"

There are a few that like the 7 ish dash but for the most part, I've heard them now bring up the A8 and VW Phaeton. This could help Audi.

I think the A8 is the best looking premium luxury sedan right now, I like it even better than the current S class inside & out.

7 Gears, man I just wonder if they'll keep adding gears and 10 years later we have like 9. Geez, that would work you to death! About the Audi, they have some real good styling, but they don't hold up very well. I know from experience that the new A4 Convertible V6 doesn't ride very well if you're going 80 MPH on the highway, it vibrates a little, and nothing was out of line.

The new S class isn't bad, but it sure isn't exciting either. As others have said the interior is far too similar to a 7 series. I really wonder how that interior layout got green-lighted.

After the initial newness wears off sales will really roll off as well. Then we will get to endure several iterations of AMG versions which, while faster, are becoming boring themselves.

BMW and Mercedes recent decisions are really opening the door for Lexus and Audi to be the new kings of the luxury hill.
