I would have expected Southern California, with its enormous tuner and aftermarket speed-parts culture, to rank much higher than it does. Many, though of course not all, of them tend to be aggressive drivers.

The low rate in Texas can probably be explained by the large numbers of pickups and SUV's driven not only by farmers and ranchers but also people who know that these are not vehicles to be thrown around corners. Austin, when I was there, especially struck me as a city with well-disciplined, sensible drivers.

The low rate in Massachusetts is probably due to the left-wing, anti-car culture there where many people drive only when they have to.

Colorado's low rate can probably be explained by the fact that looking down the side of a mountain for six or seven thousand feet.....sometimes without a guard rail....will sober you up in a HURRY.

Pennsylvania's at the top? That's a puzzler. Anybody got any ideas?
(Yeah, I know, Incendiary....you went 100-plus on the PA turnpike on the way to the Detroit show)

True, but when you factor in South Fla. (Miami-Ft Laud-West Palm) with a significant amount of high end MB's, Lexus's, and BMW's, etc. that many people drive fast you can see why we are up there. Not to mention the Tampa-St Pete-Clearwater area and South Fla. and their congestion in Rush hour.

And if you get on I-95 or I-275 without at least doing 75 or more in non-rush hour you had better not get to the left

Plus there are quite a few modified sport vehicles (Corvette's, Camaro's, Mustang's, Vipers, Civics, etc.) that see quite a bit of driving time due to our better weather conditions. Many of these cars are 11 and 12 second 1/4 mile vehicles that are daily driven which adds to the aggressive mix. Not all are aggressive, but from my experience, quite a few are.

Having lived here for approx. 13 years it doesn't surprise me that we are ranked that high.

The speed culture in SoCal is very evident but it is still a small minority. The rest of the !@^#%!@ populatrion here drives like they are still on their Big Wheel, stops to look at everything, and generally lolly-gags on all local streets, not rushing a yellow light, not going when lights turn green, etc.

What ever happened to New York... its one of the least aggresive? I guess there's enough upstate places where people drive in a tame way to offset NYC. Those of you from there please correct me... but the few times i've been to The City... the cab drivers have sent me running back to the hotel like a panzy needing to change my underpants.

Guess it depends on how you define "aggressive". Manhattan, in particular is just SO crowded that even with impaitient cab drivers that won't so much as give you an inch, it's pretty hard to do what I would call aggressive driving when you are averaging less than 5 MPH and stopping for lights EVERY block.

Those taxi drivers can make their own series of Mischief videos. There's about 7 million people in NYC. Imagine how many cars there are on the street and imagine how many people there are crossing the street when the walk sign says "don't walk." Imagine all the people... It's hard to be a level-headed driver in NYC.

PA. the most aggressive??!!! Yeah right. I would say dumbest drivers(Do they have a ranking for that?). They drive 50mph in the fast lane, then have the nerve to not move over blocking traffic for miles. They are also notorious for running red lights here in Philly. Its like they watch for when the light turns yellow/red in the opposite direction, and as soon as it does, they take off, running though the red light in their direction. They also speed through all of the yellow/red lights here. Its like the thing to do out here. There are so many accidents at intersections its rediculous(Roosevelt Bvld. and Broad St. are great for accidents). Another thing I have with the drivers out here is that they dont know how to drive in the snow. They fly down the street like its not snow covered. Aggressive, no. Dumb, yes.

Yep. Washington drivers are so non-aggressive that they don't check their rearviews when merging for fear of confrontation.

Here in Hawaii, it depends on which island you're on. Here on Maui, a lot of dumb & inconsiderate drivers; LOTS of idiots who pull in front of you on a fast road and make their own speed limit (30 in a 55). On Oahu, I'd say there's a lot more considerate drivers; hardly any cutting off, pulling out in front, easy to merge.

I agree w/ the lack of aggressiveness; but lack of intelligence is just as bad!
