i was looking into one of these as a cheap, temporary solution to my dash cracking problem. i have filled the crack in with epoxy, but it now looks like ***! i was thinking about one of these in black.

IMO they are one of the cheapiest, cab driver-iest things someone can do to a car. I understand your reasoning, but there's no other way to fix the cracks...?

lol yea man, those things are hideous. If you put one in your car I will lobby to get you kicked off CL

You could probably get it covered with vinyl for a pretty cheap price

well, problem is, the dash is pretty badly heat wapred, so even if i got the crack fixed, it would still look like ***. i got it filled with epoxy to keep it from spreading, but it still loks like shiat. those cant lok anyworse. i have seen soem cars (sepciallyt he older ones with square edges on the dash and not curves) look pretty good.

cause install takes 6 hours, and i don have that kind of time...and with what peopel around here charge to do a dash install, its around $1200. i aint got that much cash.

PLUS...have YOU tried finding an ES250 with an unwarped black dashboard in Texas? its over 100 here for 3 months every year...plus people who owned these cars nener really cared for them, that much is obvious, every one i have seen has had massive oil leaks, power steering problems, R&P problems and electical issues.

it will take time for one of these to show up, meantime, after i pay for my classes and books, off to the window tint shop i go...

i know they are kind of cheap looking, but that crack down my dash, even though its filled looks worse... but i still value you alls opinions, thats why i asked.

you gotta do what gotta do. I think it will look better than a mangled dash. here in fl they are pretty common actually.

You can replace the dash yourself from start to finish it shouldn't take more than 2 hours. It's only held on by like 5 or 6 bolts. The worst part is taking off the center console, glove compartment, and steering wheel (which is all very easy.)

I did mine and it's a lot easier than you think.

As for your Texas dash issues, order a used dash from a junkyard up north... www.car-part.com and pick one up from a northern state. They ship large things all the time.

mean time, it still looks like ****. i will look into ordering a dash.

the last time i changed a dashboard, it took 9 hours and several scratches and 3 guys. this car had a few computers and a passenger side airbag.

i may see if Jason at JPI will do it. meantime, until i can find one, i will probably order the cover. then i can either sell it on ebay or throw it away.

my question is, is there anything that will stop this from happening again? its rediculously hot down here in the summer. first summer i was here (summer of 03) it was 110 for like 2 weeks straight.
