From the 2 posts here (though, obviously, I can't see the cars in person), not only do I think you would be happier with the $10995 Corolla S, but the price is more in line with a good used Corolla. Unlike the other ad, the mileage (10,000) is clearly stated. It is more difficult than before (but not impossible) on newer cars to roll back the odometer. If the seller is asking $10995 you could probably bargain him /her down a couple of hundered dollars and be close to the $10,000 figure you want.
I'd be a little leery of that CE model advertised there. First, the asking price....$7995.... looks a little low for that vintage Corolla CE...a car that sold for almost twice that much brand-new and is now less than 2 years old. The seller did not clearly state the car's mileage. it could have been in an accident, with sloppy repairs, or reposessed from a previous owner.
See if a CarFAX report is available on these...that will tell you a lot. Barring that, I'd say right offhand, based only on what I've seen here....the $10995 S is a less risky buy.
Agreed. There has to be a reason the car is being sold below the market value. Do everything you can to make sure the car is clean if you're still interested.
As the Murphy law says, "if it sounds too good to be true, it is."

yeah, same thoughts here. i would add trying getting it for exactly 10K. it all depends on the reports and other conditions of the car. hopefully there are little things you can pick on (but not big deals in terms of maint) to get the price to come down a bit. like dings or worn seats or something like that.

mmarshall, yeah, i will have to admit that it will take me at least another 5 years to fully give korean car manufacturers credit. just hard to believe Hyundai can actually be reliable. i remember when it first came to the States, i thought it was a fake wannabe homemade HONDA with that slanted looking H.

but i don't doubt that they have come a long way since their debut.

it's nice to know one can still drive a camery or corolla with some ease.
hopefully no one will try to knock the window out of this echo lol
Yup... I don't understand why Toyota doesn't sell the Vios here but instead gives us the Echo ****. They're of about the same dimensions but the Vios looks 10x more expensive and is so much better equipped.

It even steals the nav system from the ES330.

Too bad it isn't sold here, though from what I've heard importing cars from Canada isn't hard or expensive at all either. Probably worth a trip to Vancouver to drive it back or something.

Dunno...I'm not an expert on Canadian auto stats, but it may be difficult to register it in the U.S. if it is not built to U.S. safety, bumper, emission specs, etc..... It would be considered a gray market car. it is not impossible to register as gray market car, but it can be a real pain in the a - -.

And if you're going to buy this car, you might as well get an Aveo hatchback that IS built to U.S. specs.........the two are very similiar looks-wise.

Hehe, i sold my Soarer (SC400) for a '94 Accord.

I dont know whether you are set on buying a new car, but consider this:
Price was half what i sold my SC for
Insurance is less than half
Fuel consumption is halved
Room for friends in the back (thats a nice change)
Still got Leather, Cruise, Climate and even Electric seat (drivers)
Can pimp it out nicely (just lowered on some 17/18"s looks hot)

But best of all it still gets some respect (Dunno about the US, but here in Australia Accords still have the 'prestige' classification).
