Default sti eats 360.....

guys, i read an ad yesterday about how the subaru sti is faster than some of these exotics like modena 360.... i'm truly impressed... while there's no luxury to the sti, i think it's got the over all presentation nicely done. i'm slowly swaying away from evo and to the sti now.... it'll be really cool if the sti got some option of adjustable projector hid

i like the evo so much more than the sti, the interior of the sti is nice, but the performance is not as great. also the evo is much much more mod friendly, the power is increased so much more with each mod compared to the sti which is pretty much already maxed out unless u willing to spend the big bucks. also went to the track a few weekends ago, bunch of the stis ran 14 to 15's quarter mile, only one broke 13.8, two evos in my group, 13.3 and 13.4, most of them there broke 13's and one even until the low 12's, this is amazing.

i still take evo over STi anytime. i just dont like the look of STi and handling is no match for EVO.

plus, EVO got the #1 BEST SPROT COMPACT CAR of all time in this month SCC, i know it's not big of a deal but u know lol

Heck no. My Forester could keep pace with an Evo if it were a drag race. On the highway, my Forester will also outrun an Evo in top gear, 30-50 and 50-70. The Forry is faster than an Evo in a rolling start as well. I'm not a racer, but those are usable, everyday-type driving where the Forester beats the Evo. This is reflected in the STi as well. The STi absolutely slaughters the Evo when in comes to out-of-the-box speed. Not to mention that the Forester would be less than a car length behind an Evo in a 0-130 race. Not bad, considering the Forester and the Evo weigh the same, but the Forester is a freakin' box with a lot less HP and TQ.

The Evo's advantage is handling, that is pretty much the only area it beats the Subarus in. But as has been mentioned, the Evo is more receptive to mods. The Evo is very high strung and has lackluster low-end delivery. It's great up top, but I find the EJ255 in my Forester to be perfect for my needs. Mmmm, I love torque...

By the way, the Forester uses a Mitsubishi turbo. HA!

Yeah, it is amazing. Too amazing to believe.

I've got news for you, those guys getting those kinds of times in a STi must either have a very green engine, running on crude, or have absolutely no idea how to shift. In which case they should hang up their keys and stop giving the STi a bad name. A moron who has never driven stick can jump into a EJ255/256/257 Subaru and get 14s or 15s. A decent driver with a properly broken-in engine can hit 13s easily. In fact, the STi should hit 12.4s stock. An Evo is about 13.5s. The Forester can do it in 13.8s, for cryin' out loud.

I call mega BS on the Evo with low 12s, unless it was nicely modded. You'd completely blow that Mitsubishi engine into bits if you tried to hit a low 12 ( ) in a stock Evo.

i dont see any way how a stock sti will run 12.4 stock. if this was true then they would be running at least 13's all day with a normal driver which i have seen evos do. i know the sti has more power, but they still get outperformed by the evo time and time again, the only downside to these vehicles is that their top end is really really weak. on the freeway they dont have a chance.

I'm going by C&D times. They put an STi and an Evo head-to-head and those are the results they got. Same conditions, same drivers.

Regardless, the Evo is a fast, cheap (quality/build-wise) car. Mitsubishi Motors is an ailing company that can't afford to redesign some of their most recognizable and important models, such as the Montero. I hope they go under soon. With the exception of the Evo, they have the worst lineup of any car maker.

No way I would buy a performance car from a company like that. Evos may be track stars, but they're far a far cry from decent transportation.

JDM mitsubishis are not that bad. EVO came from japan. mitsubishi pajero and challenger are pretty good cars in asia market. but USDM mitsubishis are not so happy cars.

Dude, with the suspension setup on those cars, especially some JDM models, driving it on a regular basis would be torture. Especially with the poor condition of roads we have.

Mitsubishi makes nice trucks and SUVs (exclusing junk like the Endeavor...Don't name cars after space shuttles...). Too bad they're not avaliable with stick + diesel like they are in other countires.

But it doesn't matter because, again, Mitsubishi Motors is just one big screw-up. I'm curious to see where they will be 5 years from now.
