I was at the Slasher Sale today. For those that don't know, we have slasher sales at a few of the dealerships in Broward (south Fl). The dealership advertises in the paper that cars will be sold as low as $10. They open the lot early to allow people to choose their car. You sit in it until the Slasher comes around. It's a guy with a bullhorn and bell. If you're in the car when he gets there, he slashes the price in half. You negotiate until he reaches his bottom line.

Found a 89 non turbo Supra there. It had 195,000 miles on it. The a/c was not cold. There were five dents on it. The windshield was cracked and there was a puddle of water in the spare tire well. I still wanted it because the engine purred like a kitten. The fluids looked new. Engine bay was immaculate. The Slasher wouldn't go below $1300. I refused with the amount of work to be done. The slasher guy said he knew someone like me who knows of these cars would come along and that he's in no hurry to let it go. What do you guys think of this price?

I guess $1300 isn't too bad for a sort of beat up supra that purrs like a kitten. But if it was me, I'd rather put in another 2 grand and find a turbo version. I've seen a few supra turbo (3rd gen) for around 3grand in good condition. I just don't like the 3rd gen supra because I hate the design of the interior. The na supra are also really slow. I beat one w/ my 94 integra (auto) and his was a auto as well.

If you're just looking for a project car or something to drive around then $1300 is alright I guess. How bad are the dents anyways?

They are all fist size dents. My fist size. Even without themm car needs complete respray. Also, interior needs work and I can tell the power window motor is about to die. I think I'm going to pass.

Wow!! These are some serious dents then. I thought you were talking about quarter size dents. $1300 is definately too much for the car then. I'd pay like $700-800 at most for the car.
