so i'm wondering when the class action suit is coming from those who bought "full self driving" but the promise is NEVER fulfilled or isn't for several more years. Why would people who paid $10k for it and the promises of 'any day now', 'coming this year', etc., all having come and gone. I applaud tesla for being ambitious but there's a point where the promises made for money taken is never fulfilled at which point it's tantamount to fraud.

Never mind self driving, NYC is in absolute state of traffic crisis, it has never been so bad. The trains used to be packed like sardines, now they are half empty with plenty of seating spots even during rush hour, and the buses are running absolutely empty. After the pandemic people are driving cars instead of taking mass transit, and the traffic probably more than doubled. Luckily so far the weather has been warm enough, so I've been mostly using my motorcycle to cut through this nonsense, during colder month I resort to trains and walking.
NYC needs a full on ban on private vehicles, or make it super expensive to drive.

I never thought full self driving was possible or was going to happen for a very long time if ever, I did not understand why some seemed so gun ho about it and like it was going to happen soon. Our roads, highways, streets are simply not designed for it nor are these systems able to deal with all the obstacles and issues of everyday driving, snow, heavy rain, unexpected things in the road. The only way it would work is to redesign all of our roads to fully suit the systems, put sensors in them everywhere for the systems to read which would cost trillions and even then these systems would still likely have issues/malfunctions which will likely lead to serious accidents, death. Unless you are fully eliminating all accidents I don't really see the point in spending all that money, so people can bury their noses in their phones and yap on social media even more then they normally do? I think it will mainly be limited for a while to a more smart cruise control on highways, it will brake to avoid hitting cars, maintain a certain distance, follow the lines(hopefully they are clear), use some gps info to also track and the driver will likely still have to steer every once in a while to make sure they are paying attention, not sleeping, etc in case of a emergency. I just would not trust these self driving vehicles, they will screw up just like everything humans make and that is bad news in 4000lb vehicles traveling on highways/roads.

This is because, in the hands of an operator that is unfamiliar with Tesla’s driver-assist techologies, FSD Beta could be a lot to handle. Unfortunately, this became extremely evident in a recent video from CNN, which featured one of the news agency’s respondents using FSD Beta in inner-city streets. The footage, which has been shared on social media, is quite painful — if not a bit frightening — to watch. The CNN driver, who admits that he is “a little skittish,” noted that he does not drive a Tesla at all. With these factors in mind, the CNN driver did not disappoint on the “skittish” part, as he seemingly panicked at several points during his drive. Overall, the four-minute clip showed exactly what happens when an operator who is unfamiliar with Tesla’s vehicles uses FSD Beta, a system that is designed for the company’s most experienced drivers. It gets chaotic and dramatic, and completely opposite of what FSD Beta videos are like from actual experienced Tesla owners.

When was the initial claim of full self driving by Tesla? Was it not already promised and has the date already passed? Apparently Apple Corp will have a full self driving car by 2025

Yep, an excellent post, Och.....hard to discount that list. Every time Musk (or any other automaker) promises us "True" self-drivers, more and more problems keep cropping up.
Eventually, we will vehicles that can come reasonably close to it (probably 98% or 99%).....but I don't think we will ever see 100%. We can't....there are simply too many things in today's world that affect our driving.

There have been so many "never gonna happen" predictions throughout history. FSD will be solved and become much better than a human it's inevitable. One thing is for certain if the ninnies in the U.S. don't stop trying to keep companies like Tesla down China will be beat them and others to the punch and U.S. auto makers will lose out on massive revenue, tech leadership and the general sense of being the place where innovation takes place.
