We're above 2022 here. I never paid $5.53 in 2022 for 93. I do remember diesel being crazy here in 22.

PA has the #1 taxes in the nation on diesel at a whopping 74 cents/gal.!!

I have seen several stations here over $5 for 87.

$5.39 in Chicago. $4.89 out in the burbs. I topped off out there last night.

I've been trying to do the Prius Hyper mile thing. Getting the car in the most efficient driving speed. On the highway, I merge and get up to the speed limit 70mph out 60 in (in/out Chicago city limits posted speed)
In pure hybrid mode with Max Regen on. I only use the breaks to hold the car at a stop or abrupt necessity. Once the car gets to 6th gear on normal acceleration I up shift it into 8th. On the highway I'm barely above 2.2K rpm with 4.10 gears and hefty K02 33s
I'm averaging 28.8mpg now out of a 5100lb Jeep rocking the aerodynamics of a shipping container.

No one is speeding like they use to on I90.

Oil companies are making a combined average $30mil per hour right now....

Suburban Maryland is typically a few cents higher than suburban Virginia...perhaps (?) due to slightly higher state gas taxes.

Point is there are gas prices in the area over $5, same as in 2022.

must contact that member on here that gets 2X the EPA miles per gallon…it was like 50mpg when the cuv gets 27mpg EPA. If memory serves correct, shifting in neutral while coasting was also a claim by that member

That practice of sugar-in-the-tank, however, is not new. I knew about it back in high-school, in the late 60s...although, of course, I would not do anything like that. But we did have some hooligans where I lived.
Speaking of that, I can't belieeeeevvvvvve how so many cars don't have lockable fuel doors.

You'll have a car that has an interior motion and glass breakage sensor (I think the GMC does have that option), but there's no security for the fuel filler door. Anyone could do anything, put anything in the gas tank.

All of the rest of the cars have proper fuel door releases, but the MB is my favorite. Fuel door is ready to open when the doors are unlocked. When you lock the doors, access denied.

I still haven't filled the cars up yet but I'm bracing for a big bill, lol.

Everything is on E except the Merc lol which the spouse just took out for a spin.

Gas went down a penny since I last posted a week or so ago.

I suspect it’ll go right back up before Memorial Day weekend and the start of the summer travel season — but hope it doesn’t…

Prices are... interesting.
I found it quite interesting in 2025, iirc, reading a car and driver or similar type magazine from 2005 I believe. Article talking about it becoming expensive at 3$ per gallon. Which was likely a coastal price.

$4.28 for regular at my local BJs club, their diesel is $5.65 and believe that's the best price in the area.

Except for the 78 Malibu I drove in high school, every other car I have driven has had a gas cap that cannot be accessed unless the car is unlocked.

A number of GM vehicles don't have locking gas-doors. Personally, I don't think that is just a matter of saving money in the design. Locking gas doors can be a real pain if or when they malfunction and you can't open them. The flip side, of course, is that it makes it easier for people to siphon gas or sabotage your tank......it's a trade-off.
