I will probably never get rid of my Prius. I have a 1hr one way commute and Prius comes in handy!! Fresh Cont tires, bring on the miles. Got 80k miles out of last set of Conti tires.

Going back to Toyota/Lexus the RAV-4/CR-V were the first unibody suvs. Game changers. The RX was the first unibody luxury crossover and doubled Lexus sales almost immediately. Today you have to credit the RX for the very luxury unibody crossover few have today.

The ML predates the RX by a year but was body on frame. They moved to unibody since the second gen.

The X5 was the first sporty luxury suv (they called it SAV back then for activity) being RWD based.
My mom had 1st gen RAV4 when it first came out in ruby red. Also had GX 470 over Range Rover (didn’t see the hype) and still have 1st gen ML 320. Has somewhere close to 250k miles. I changed oil on it last summer.

Wife and I had RX450h F sport that we loved. Moved on to larger vehicle (LX)

Other than maybe a TX 550h+, nothing Lexus makes moves the needle for us and we are a Toyota/Lexus family. We’ve had almost every Toyota/Lexus model pre 2020s

i believe the MDX was/is considered a sporty handling SUV but always read the X5 was more sporty than the MDX. Idk which debuted first.

There’s one out there for you. Just say the word and I’ll locate it for you. I’ll even waive my fee😁

Never is a long time. That said, around 2010 I began thinking about replacing my 2000 Tundra. I was sure it would give me reason within a couple years. Fast forward to 2026 and 300k miles... the damn thing still hasn't given me reason to replace it. So... maybe in the next couple years.

The wife thoroughly enjoys buzzing around town in her 2010 RX350. 100k miles, looks and operates like new. Folks can call it an "appliance" or whatever, but as long as the wife is happy it will remain her daily driver.

Lexus doesn't have a vehicle that appeals to me, but that doesn't mean they lost their way. Maybe the title should have been... Lexus found their new way to be more successful.

X5's still the winner in my book for this category. More reliable now and way more reasonably priced.

I still see a bunch of 1st gen X5s - it’s an amazing design.
Actually saw a v8 one recently at the gas station and thought how the hell is this thing still running. It wasn’t babied as has some damage on it.

My co-worker leased the 1st gen RX. I used to tell him he got a car that copied the ML.

@SW17LS Your top six from earlier. Do you think S-10 Blazer belongs next to the Explorer? Remember they had the 2-door version first, then the Explorer came along and they both changed everything. At least, I think that's how it went. Long time ago.

No, the Explorer is way more historically significant than the S10 Blazer, it was more attractive to mainstream families, more upscale with the Eddie Bauer trim etc

that's considered cruel and unusual punishment by some.
man you must really love your job.

(Mom)... still have 1st gen ML 320. Has somewhere close to 250k miles. I changed oil on it last summer.
wow... that's an old 'un... has it been reliable? it really had a bad rep when it came out.

i specifically didn't want the eddie bauer trim (with the hideous green and beige, lol), but maybe they'd already dropped that when i got my 2006 or 2007 - i had the 'limited' trim.

I’m not sure of any major repairs or extensive time in the shop.

They still made the Eddie Bauer then too. Originally when the Explorer came out the Eddie Bauer was the top trim, the Limited wasn't added until 1993. My 1995 was a Limited too.

The Eddie Bauers came in all the colors but they all had the tan under trim and the tan interior. The green was the color they always used in advertisements, That was VERY 90s and people loved it!

☝️🆙

I think the fuel gauge is wonky. When it gets close to 1/4 tank, fill it up.
