I haven't ridden in an RX in a long time, so I'll take your word for it

I don't because because people tend to make stuff up when it comes to Tesla, take the bait click article posted by you know who. But it doesn't really matter because Tesla doesn't fit the type of vehicles the OP seems to like. Forgive my skepticism

Not everybody who doesn’t like a Tesla has an ulterior motive…it’s just a car like any other car and some
people like them and some people don’t.

The “clickbait” article is a review from MotorTrend. Again…just one persons opinion.

Never said everyone. But a lot do. Proof is just a few posts back, the like the one addressed by @swajames . But again, the OP clearly is a luxury car buyer, so it doesn't really matter

So moving on 🤣

I really think the OP should look at the BMW ix line of SUVs. If the OP is serious about going EV and this is not a "I really want a BEV but they just don't make one that fits me" post, then this would would probably be a great fit

Car & Driver also says the ride is too firm

Usually the case…too soft a ride isn’t as popular as one would think…likely the Tesla ride is what perspective buyers of the brand want…

i just read the “review”. i’d bet money the author(s) have an axe to grind against tesla’s ceo.

as for the latest Y’s ride (theirs configured just like mine) being ‘jarring and harsh’ that’s just absurd. it rides better than my ioniq 5 although the wheels are an inch bigger (and thus lower profile tires) on my ioniq.

when i read stuff like this i chuckle and wonder what they’re comparing it to.

Although Tesla greatly improved its bestseller, the Model Y has merely been upgraded to the baseline for the segment.

My friend with 2023 model y with the 20 inch wheels said it’s a harsh ride. He wish he opted for the 19s for ride comfort and range. This is in Texas where roads are incredibly smooth then you have some not so good spots.

In NY, I rode rear passenger in model y with 20 inch wheels but the roads were bumpy and it was only a couple mile ride for me to give a fair assessment.

What EV did the OP decide on ?

that’s the older pre-refresh Y. amirza has that also - do you think it’s harsh amirza?

about the 2025 “juniper” Y… watch this review for what it’s really like.

This has been covered before, but he has 19's on his Y. We have 20's on ours. When we we're deciding between the 2, the aesthetics of the 20's outweighed any perception of a smoother ride on the 19's. Actually, the difference was minimal. No where near the difference between the old 3 and refreshed 3. I assume that reflects similarly with the old and refreshed Y.

When I want a really harsh ride, I take my pickup.

so i think you're saying the new 3 and Y are a pretty big step in smoother ride over the prior. i would agree with that, having driven last gen and refresh 3 and Y.

so for MT to say the ride is harsh in a new Y with 19's is kind of a joke. in fact, my Y might be the nicest riding vehicle (and certainly the quietest!) i've ever had.

haha... what model/year is that?

To answer your question, my Y rides very smooth, and now rides even better with the Kumho tires I replaced the Continentals with.

I have no issues with people not wanting a Tesla, there are many reasons like the minimalist cabin etc. But when people make up stuff up about bad ride quality, I can only SMH

Reason he chose the 20s over the 19s. He preferred the look of the 20s.

I guess ride quality is subjective.
