I've heard rumors that the RS5 would be sold in the US without the PHEV system because Audi has been stripping its hybrid systems from the other vehicles it's bringing over here recently, so we'll see if that holds true.
That last comment isn't a good defense when the Japanese brands are 15 year behind in all things performance
Why does the rs5 weigh as much as an f150?
Why do phev/hevs coming out of Germany all have the huge weight gain?
German ICE has performance on lock and key. The minute they wager into hev/phev their cobbling together inefficient systems and shipping it out the door with blinders on. They might be well positioned to do a reverse Zupra, with a tech sharing agreement.

Why? Even their massively heavy cars still beat anything japan has on offer totally senseless. I agree they have pure ICE on lock though, they always have but post 2010 it's also very reliable

because almost no one cares if a car can go over 100mph or can do 0-60 under 5 seconds.

german performance cars are great. but they're expensive, and almost no one is a mechanic who can buy decade old ones...

Which is fine if absolute speed is your thing. TBH I only watched Throttle House reviews of European cars only to watch those guys goof around and actually enjoy driving and they dont seem to be all that smitten with these new gen European speed demons. Heck they would choose the LC500 over some German models even though they are faster and handle better. Some people like you prefer absolute speed, some people will prefer cars with character and soul and most people will buy what suits their daily transportation needs.
To be fair, the Prius has a 2l 4 cyl hybrid system, hard to make a car with a V8, AWD and a hybrid system as weight efficient as the Prius.
I'm not sure who would compare a Prius to V8 performance monsters or why would you guy buy a V8 performance monster and then complain about weight and poor gas mileage. Seems a bit unrealistic...

I also prefer character and soul, that's why I went with a fleet consisting of near 50% of 12 cyl cars and a bunch of modified high power V8s. Speed, power, fury, and bespoke experiences do a hell of a lot for the soul of a car
Agreed most will only buy demure and boring appliances. However the Germans are the only ones who actually do go out and make halo cars or insane segment defining vehicles across the board.

How many of those segment defining cars are truly special and unique? You take a GR Corolla out and you get more attention. People know that Toyota put their heart and soul into creating something so ridiculous out of a basic transportation Corolla and put a relatively unique and special engine in there. You hop in that thing and you know you are driving something special and that a bunch of people really cared to create. Whereas the Germans is all about who can shove the biggest horsepower number in there and get to 60 in 2s.

I'm a buyer in ~2-3 years if we get the Avant here AND without hybrid system 🫡

Not sure where the post I was replying to with that comment went...

All of them. The GR Corolla is a blip vs the legacy of the Golf and the ONLY reason it's even noteworthy is because it is so rare Toyota does anything even remotely cool.
