ok so we’ve established non-ev cars have a similar feature set to ev’s but are more complex due to having multiple power sources and the sheer complexity of ice engines, turbos, hybrid stuff, etc.
Those members dislike the concept of an EV powertrain. I like the concept of an EV powertrain, I just want a "traditional" look and design interface. Rivian has that for sure.

Traditional:
Not traditional:
Yeah, traditional
Maybe if you keep saying it we'll eventually believe it
Whats not traditional? It has a long hood that houses a frunk instead of an engine, nothing wrong with that. It has a central control screen and a gauge cluster screen, a steering wheel, a gear selector...what is not traditional? My S580 is laid out the same way inside.
What do you think I mean when I say I want an EV that looks and feels like a traditional vehicle? That is what I mean. If you think I have been meaning something else then you were wrong...

I honestly to God don't know what you want in an EV because it changes like the days of the week. Are you fine that a Rivian doesn't have an On/Off button, you just get in it and drive? Are you fine that many of the controls are in the screen? Are you fine it drives nothing like a gas car, has instant on demand torque with almost no nvh, makes almost no noise, has funny looking bubbly headlights? If the answer is yes, then no further discussion is needed. If no, than you are better off sticking with a gas car, and no further discussion is needed

I have said repeatedly that I love the smooth instant torque of the EV powertrain, I just want it in a package that has traditional looks and a control interface that feels similar to what I have now in terms of driving position, control layout etc. Thats what I mean when I say I want it to "feel" like an ICE car. Not that I want the powertrain to feel like ICE...
Would I rather have an on/off button? Yeah but its not the end of the world. I have broad concepts of what I like and don't like and I'm flexible. Am I fine that most controls are in the screen? Don't love it but thats an issue in my S580 and many ICE cars too.
Mainly...I don't want a car that looks like a space pod. I want a car that looks like a car. Might surprise you to know I would consider the Tesla Model S as a car that fits what I like broadly also. Obviously Tesla has some design issues I really dislike (no turn signal stalk and gear selector in the screen) but the car is beautiful and the control layout inside is fine.
A Rivian R1S is one of the top contenders to replace our Pacifica next fall.

Well you've cleared that up, no further discussion is needed 👍
