I've go a 2015 IS350c. Love it. No problems. But if Lexus is so good and dependable, why are there so many posts with problems folks are having? I mean, this isn't a Yugo website.

Selection bias. There are 99.9% of the ownership out there with no issues and quite happy. Consider your sample pool.

Over the years Lexus has scored high in reliability ratings and still does.

There's many millions of Lexus vehicles sold over the years, 850k just last year. How many issues are actually reported on an Internet forum? (rhetorical question)

However, forums are good at bringing attention to repeated problems with certain models. My wife purchased a 2010 RX350. Folks on this forum were quite helpful at bringing two issues to my attention involving oil line failure that could result in destroying the engine. As it turned out my wife's Lexus was unaffected but am thankful to the membership here for brining the potential issue to my attention.

 

Most people come to a forum to post problems. As someone who posts on forums for multiple makes and reads others, the issues here are no big deal.

 

One of our two RXs is a) the only vehicle that has ever left us stranded and b) has developed the timing cover slow oil leak that can only be fixed with a full engine out to replace a $20 part.

 

Same actually, only cars I've ever had to jump or flatbed have been my Lexus cars somehow lol!

 

Everything is relative and every car will have its own issues, because its designed by a human.

Still see plenty of 2nd & 3rd gen RXs running around.

Lexus vehicles aren’t designed for how you use them 😆

You need vehicles that rev to the moon. 9k+ redline

 

Ours including the one with the timing cover leak are 4th gen. Our son has a 2nd gen.

 

They are commonly very reliable though…doesn’t mean nobody ever has problems.

 

Loved our RX450h f sport. When we had the LX 570, my wife sometime wish we kept the RX. We test drove the non hybrid F sport and the hybrid F sport model back to back and went with the hybrid. Zero issues minus a door handle recall I believe. It was a great vehicle. I considered another one before I bought the PHEV RAV4. Maybe had I bought the RX450H again, it’s possible we wouldn’t have the X7. Though the X7 is overall a better vehicle for us.

I expect a car to start and move, only ones I've had that failed that were Lexus/Toyota. Also the only car I've ever had with repeated and very high labor time to repair oil leaks was a Lexus
