General Car Conversation 2025 - Part 2
I love the way they look, they're definitely among the best looking 1500s out there especially the Capstones.
Yes I haven't driven it but I don't see how this wouldn't be accurate.
I would be concerned about long term reliability, but I wouldn't ever buy a Chrysler to keep forever... and you lease yours so none of that matters one bit. I would also lease if it were a Chrysler.

My auto insurance premiums have been out of control the last few years.
When I first bought the BMW in Nov 2023 and added it to my policy, it increased my annual premium to $2200(though the amount I paid was less because I added it mid-policy, but the math checks out). Didn't love that, but it was certainly workable.
The next renewal last summer, they increased my auto insurance to $3,050 per year. That's a 38% increase. Certainly a ripoff.
I just got my policy renewal notice today......$5,200. This is straight up highway robbery. I have a 20 year driving record with zero accidents or tickets. Excellent credit. I take advantage of every possible discount. Last year I had my broker shop around to see if they could get me a better rate elsewhere, and they came up emptyhanded. I don't intend to accept that again this year. I'll be contacting a new broker and doing everything I can to stop being stolen from. The total value of my vehicles combined is less than $40k. I think it's quite unreasonable to charge $430 a month to insure them.

Invasion of Privacy? Maybe, maybe not...depends on how you look at it. But, even if so, driving has never been a right but a priviledge....and that so-called "Invasion" can pay off.

it's just a 2 lane per side road... nothing wrong with that. also there's an entrance to an interstate up ahead, and most people need to be in the left lane to go south.
also not everyone because clearly i wasn't in the left lane.

Yeah, long term reliability is because of the Chrysler not the Hybrid lol
My brother's rate with his relatively new Kia Seltos went down significantly at Allstate when he took advantage of their Track-Your-Driving program. It monitors one's driving-habits, total miles, how many times emergency-braking systems engage, average speeds, and other data. Every six months, when the new policy is issued, he gets a discount of a varying amount. It's not usually the same every time, but it is substantial.
I don’t want that on my car. I don’t slow down for corners in the GS!

BTW you told me that 442 minor evap code leak in my Mercedes won't hurt it driving... I don't think it will either, but do you actually know why it's fine? In any case it's getting fixed soon.
I was leery of this but signing up for State Farm Drive Safe and Save was the only way to make our car insurance palatable when we added a 16 year old driver with a brand new car. Since then, every 6 months our insurance has decreased in a period when premiums are on the rise nationally. I've been impressed so far but know that can always change with insurance companies!
One thing with German cars especially Mercedes is never top off the tank after it clicks off. That was a big adjustment for me because I have always done that by muscle memory. On a German car that can easily foul the charcoal canister and cause the purge valve to clog and you get a CEL.
