General Car Conversation 2025 - Part 1
LS430 is still a fabulous automobile, it's lonnnnnng paid for, drives the same as when I bought it, and never breaks.
That Benz was nice but it didn't have that pull on me, of course I appreciate the hell out of it but I in no way am buying it.

Yes, that's not the same thing as an S-Class, but it was worth significantly more when we first brought it home than an S560 is worth today, so still semi-applicable.

This is honestly one reason I look at other houses and get disappointed, it's really hard to go from a garage that can fit 3 full-size trucks with 4 door cabs to a "normal" size one.
It's an old car and belongs in a car show. Lol
Celebrating Lexus & Toyota from Around the Globe
IDK measurements but an LS430 is about 197 inches long. It clears the garage by maybe 4-6 inches if I park it absolutely as far up as possible.
Merc fits in there beautifully.
I did love the long, massive hood. It was noticeable. The star looked great from the driver's seat.
No question W126 was a stunningly high quality automobile, but I can see how and why the LS400 came out and pretty much blew it away... they rushed the W140 bc of the LS400 and it didn't come out until 1992.
So, in 1990, 70+ grand for a 1982 platform 560SEL or about half that for a car that did everything as well or better, and was bristling with new tech at the time like the fancy Lexus gauges and basically the smoothest V8 drivetrain ever. No wonder Lexus was such a smash hit.

A few years ago I was selling my Harley Electroglide motorcycle.
I got a call from someone asking if I would be interested in a trade, he had a 1980s Mercedes wagon.
I asked him to drive over so I can have a look.
I was thinking maybe I could do a trade and keep the car for local driving.
But, after I saw it I passed.
It was a nice car but from a "different age" is the only way I can describe it.
I can appreciate old cars but it was a little too old. Lol

Such as antique furniture.
I can admire it but don't want it in my home. Lol
I guess I'm the same with cars.
My car is old but not 1980's old. Lol
Reading a mag from 1991. I love these old ads. Cadillac was so far behind with this model. I tried calling the number on the ad
The call doesn’t go through and says “the person who you are calling isn’t taking calls at the moment, please try again later, please try again later”. Lol. @mmarshall @Margate330
I have such a soft spot for this car
saw a Ford towing a Ford.
I wonder how many today.

The Chevrolet Euro had fibreglass rear springs? Say what?

It was no LS400 but a decent enough car. Pretty reliable IIRC.
