Question Question about Lexus App that charges 2nd battery

Hello,
I have the Lexus 450e and am going to FL for 5 months. Trying to find someone who knows about the app on which you can set up a charging schedule to keep the second battery charged. I will have a trickle charger on the first battery.
I have been told there is a Lexus app that you set up so every 4 weeks it will charge the battery to keep it from dying.
I have a charger installed in my garage.
Oddly, the person at my dealership who is the expert in EVs says he does not recommend going this. He said plugging it in for 5 months is not safe. However, the guy who installed my charger several years ago says that is ridiculous and that’s what the app is for and “you’re not the first guy going to FL for the winter.”
If anyone has any experience with this situation or can clarify, I would appreciate it.

Danny

I think you're over complicating this. You've got a trickle charger for the 12v which is a great idea since they can be fickle in EVs. For the EV battery, just set the charging schedule in the car and leave it plugged in. It should be smart enough to request the charger to start whenever it drops a few percent. No need to let it drain for 4 weeks before topping it back up.

I can only tell you the recommendation given by Tesla, Polestar and Hyundai (Ioniq 5), cars which I have/owned. Tesla says leave the car plugged in when leaving the car idle over 3 weeks. Polestar recommends also leaving the car plugged in but setting the charge limit to 50 percent, and Hyundai also says you can leave it plugged in, but you can also use a trickle charger on the 12v LV battery

What does your manual say? Good thing Toyota doesn’t have a “do not park inside a garage” recall type warning. Pretty sure Toyota will say leave it plugged in
